NCIS LA’s Barrett Foa ‘thrilled’ as he shares ‘big’ career announcement after CBS exit | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Netflix’s intriguing new murder mystery drama has already amassed a stacked cast of familiar faces, including TV legends from the likes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Wire. The Residence has now added NCIS: Los Angeles’ Barrett Foa into the mix, his first major TV role since departing his role as Eric Beale in the CBS drama in 2021.

Foa will star as the First Gentleman of the United States in Netflix’s upcoming mystery drama, The Residence.

The new series is being produced by Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland, best known for Grey’s Anatomy and Bridgerton, and written by Scandal scribe Paul William Davies.

An official synopsis via Deadline describes The Residence as “a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and back stairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion.

“132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous State Dinner.”

“This cast! This script! This team! Can’t wait. #whodunnit? #netflix #shondaland.”

Foa will portray Elliott Morgan, the White House’s First Gentleman alongside President Perry Morgan, who has yet to be cast as of March 2023.

He’s described as knowing “nothing about the social culture of Washington or the expectations of his role in the White House”.

The cast also includes Andre Braugher as White House chief usher AB Wynter, Susan Kelechi Watson as assistant usher Jasmine Haney and Isiah Whitlock Jr as chief of police Larry Dokes.

Rounding out the huge supporting cast are Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Edwina Findley, Molly Griggs, Al Mitchell, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Mary Wiseman, EL Losada, Matt Oberg, Ryan Farrell and Alexandra Siegel.

Foa’s exciting announcement received several supportive messages from his friends and followers, including some of his NCIS castmates.

LL Cool J, who portrays Special Agent Sam Hanna, simply replied with a strong arm emoji.

And Kensi Blye star Daniela Ruah commented: “Knock it outta the park you handsome talented devil you!”

His fans will be sure to check out the upcoming series, as this will be Foa’s first role since departing NCIS LA with his co-star Renée Felice Smith.

Foa’s character Eric and his girlfriend Nell Jones (Smith) both left at the end of season 12 to pursue new opportunities in Tokyo, though there’s a chance they could appear one last time in the spin-off’s upcoming series finale.

A release date for The Residence has yet to be announced, though is expected to be released no earlier than 2024.

NCIS: Los Angeles season 14 continues Sundays on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
