MSI MAG 275CQRXF Monitor Review

When working, it can be annoying to switch between multiple tabs and windows to get work done. For those with nothing but time on their hands, it can be frustrating but manageable to move tabs and programs around.

As someone who likes to work from home, using a single monitor feels like a waste of time, time that I could be writing, responding to emails, or even gaming while things are slow.

In order to accomplish this, I prefer to use at least two monitors to multitask. After reviewing the MSI MAG-323UPF monitor, MSI reached out and asked us if we would like to review their MSI MAG 275CQRXF Monitor; knowing that the MSI 275CQRXF Monitor was smaller, it seemed like the perfect monitor to use as a secondary screen.

Over the last three months, we have been putting the MSI MAG 275CQRXF Monitor to the test. At first, the new monitor was a bit hard to deal with. Now, this wasn’t due to anything wrong with the monitor, but rather some technological illiteracy on my end. The brightness on the MSI 275CQRXF was a bit much to deal with and there is no easy way to deal with it in the monitor’s direct settings.

Instead, you have to adjust the settings in the display settings of your PC. Additionally, the MSI MAG 323UPF has a refresh rate of 160HZ whereas the MSI MAG has a refresh rate of 240HZ; if you do not adjust the refresh rate, there can be a stutter between the the two monitors. This stuttering can be detrimental when playing competitive games.

Speaking of competitive games, I found using the MSI MAG 275 to be the better monitor when playing FPS games or games that I needed a quick reaction time for. The toggle on the back right allows you to turn on the crosshair and makes it easier to aim.

There is a setting to help zoom in further while still keeping a field of view. Users can change the settings of what the toggle does in the back so they can have it meet their needs whether is changing the game mode, dropping the FPS, activating the crosshair, or an alarm clock. The brightness toggle setting sadly doesn’t work.

When comparing the picture quality of the MSI MAG 275 vs the MSI MAG 323UPF, the MSI MAG 275 offers a more crisp and detailed picture. When looking at the two, the overall image quality of the MSI MAG 275 feels vastly superior.

It could be due to the rounded design, the high refresh rate, or the aim marker on the screen but I found myself winning more games. The size and curvature of the monitor make it easy to put into a corner or tight spaces so that you have something to fill the void but also work with.

MSI MAG 275CQRXF Verdict

At first, I was not the biggest fan of the MSI MAG 275CQRXF monitor; I had already been enjoying my MSI MAG-323UPF and the issues that emerged when trying to run both made it feel more like a hindrance than a benefit.

After messing around with the settings, I was able to find settings that worked best for me. As soon as the monitor flickering was dealt with, using the MSI MAG 275CQRXF became more enjoyable. When playing competitive shooters, I will disconnect the MSI MAG-323UPF because the monitors’ two different light tones can be distracting no matter what you do.

Overall for $349.99, you get a good bang for your buck with the MSI MAG 275CQRXF. The response time and refresh rate make competitive games a lot easier to respond to and feel like your eyes aren’t going to water after a few rounds. Now that I’ve gotten used to the monitor, I don’t know if I could go back to using a standard television. It is worth checking out the MSI MAG 275CQRXF.
