MrBeast & Ninja Facing Off In $150,000 League of Legends Showmatch

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson have agreed to a $150,000 League of Legends show match in Las Vegas on July 9.

The banter between the pair began in a tweet posted by Donaldson on June 10. After posting a tweet about potentially hosting a League of Legends tournament, he tagged Blevins and said the latter sucked. Ninja responded just minutes afterwards, tweeting “I would literally dominate you in a League of Legends match and it wouldn’t even be close.”

MrBeast alluded to the announcement in a prior tweet before announcing the show match officially on June 22. In the announcement tweet (seen below), Donaldson stated “Ninja has accepted my offer. $150,000 League of Legends best of 3 match, we’ll announce our teams soon…” before announcing the venue and date, the HyperX arena in Las Vegas on July 9.

As for who will make the lineups, it’s likely that active North American professional players will be ruled out because the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) season will be ongoing that weekend. This means that Ninja and MrBeast will likely round out their rosters with retired ex-pros and League of Legends content creators.

Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp is a likely pick for either team and will be one of the best players available out of the content creator pool. Though they recently quit League after having their champion’s queue applications denied, Michael “Imaqtpie” Santana and Danny “Shiphtur” Le are potential options. Other ex-professionals like Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi and Yillang “Doublelift” Peng are also names that will likely come up. That’s a lot of AD Carries, but role swaps are not out of the question in a match like this.

For League of Legends content creators, OfflineTV members William “Scarra” Li, Imane “Pokimane” Anys, Yvonne “yvonnie” Ng and Lily “LilyPichu” Ki are all potential options. North American League of Legends streamers like Ashkan “TF Blade” Homayouni, Karasmai and Joedat “Voyboy” Esfahani may also be in the conversation.

Of course, this is all speculation. We’ll have to wait and see who the pair plans to pick up for their rosters. It’s likely this information will become available in the upcoming week in order to generate more hype ahead of the match.
