Rumors suggest that the highly anticipated Season 2 update for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 has been delayed.

The highly anticipated Season 2 update for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 has reportedly been delayed internally by two weeks. The big update, which is expected to bring new content and plenty of quality-of-life changes, was supposed to be released on February 1st, but is now rumored to be releasing on February 15th.

Although the new season has yet to be officially announced by Activision or Infinity Ward, many speculated that the update would be released on February 1st as this is when the current in-game Battle Pass is set to expire. The timeline would also match the usual schedule between new major content updates.

However, a new tweet from Call of Duty news account CharlieIntel has suggested that the February 1st release date may no longer be the case. “New data mining information suggests Season 02 of MWII and Warzone 2 begins February 15th, not February 1st. Seems like the new Season may be delayed. No official announcement yet from Activision”, CharlieIntel’s tweet reads.

Despite the new season not actually being announced by Infinity Ward, new key art for Season 2 was leaked just weeks into the release of Season 1. The image was revealed by reliable leaker RalphsValve on WhatIfGaming, but has since been removed by Activision. In the key art, a fan-favorite map originally from Call of Duty: World At War appears in the background.

The map in question is Castle, which is expected to debut as a remastered multiplayer map in the upcoming season. Also included as the star of the key art is Ronin, an operator that originally appeared in 2019’s reboot of the series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Of course, although the leak appears to be a reliable one, details on the new season have yet to be confirmed by the developers.
