Having trouble with the Flaahgra boss fight in Metroid Prime Remastered? This guide can help you defeat the plant-like monster.

On the planet of Tallon VI, Samus Aran is faced with mighty beasts from both alien and robotic origins. Equipped with the Power Suit, she must fight her way through with what she has. Remade from the ground up and based on the classic Metroid Prime from 2002 for the Nintendo Gamecube, the game can be followed as an almost exact replica enhanced with better graphics. Still, with the classic first-person shooter perspective it had before, it holds onto its old charm.

With a planet full of foes, many rise up more than the rest. There are several bosses that Samus will encounter, starting with the Parasite Queen and ending with creatures beyond normal life, Metroid Prime is full of difficult challenges. With the help of Power Suit upgrades and learning the moves and skills required, bosses can go from difficult to enemies already conquered. Located in Chozo Ruins, the Flaahgra is a tough and long battle. Retaining more alien-type features, the Flaaghra is a giant plant-serpant-type creature.

Fighting Flaaghra

The Mirror Arrays in the Flaaghra Fight Metroid Prime Remastered

The Flaaghra has a lot of moves to crush Samus with. Mainly used are its large scythe-like arms, lunging towards Samus with its long body, and spreading toxic gas. These can be easily avoided with quick dodging and watching the Flaaghra when it’s about to lunge toward Samus and strike.

The weakness of the Flaaghra is the giant sun beams shooting up at the Flaaghra. These are controlled by Mirror Arrays. These must be disabled through all the stages of the fight. The Charge Beam or missiles can be used to hit the buttons located on the back of each solar panel. There’s more on each stage of the fight, starting with just one.

The Flaaghra may lash its claws down to stop Samus from reaching them. A good way to get around fast is the Morph Ball upgrade for the Power Suit. This will also be necessary to have during the Flaaghra fight. Hitting the Flaaghra without the solar panels is also possible. Hitting the creature’s head with a Charge Beam or missiles, the Flaaghra will be blocked from spitting out energy spheres at Samus.

Samus as the Morph Ball Fighting the Flaaghra in Metroid Prime Remastered

When disabling all the Mirror Arrays, the Flaaghra will be temporarily injured and retract its tentacles. When this happens, locate where the tentacles retracted from and go in with the Morph Ball. Go all the way up and place a Morph Ball Bomb, which will greatly damage the Flaaghra. After this, the Flaaghra will get hurt then the Mirror Arrays will be reactivated and go to the next phase of the fight. If it takes too long to get to the tunnel and the Flaaghra can recover with a Mirror Array tilting back towards it. The Flaaghra will then kick Samus out of the tunnel and perform an attack with its claws all the way around the map, so timing these hits down the tunnels is important to focus on.

The best way to defeat the Flaaghra is by using the Morph Ball. Whether attacking down the tunnels or getting around to each Mirror Array, it gives a good way to get around. Alternatively, shooting the Flaaghra while running around the ring to hit the Mirror Arrays as well would lower the number of energy balls shot at Samus during the fight.
