Mecha BREAK Follows in Armored Core VI’s Mechanical Footsteps

Mecha BREAK is an upcoming mech-based action fighting game from the minds of Amazing Seasun, inspired by Gundam and Zone of the Enders

The creative minds at Amazing Seasun proudly announced their upcoming mech game, Mecha BREAK, during The Game Awards 2023. We get to see roughly a minute and a half of footage that is mixed between in-engine cinematics and what looks to be actual gameplay.

More mech games are always welcome and with Armored Core VI’s success, this can only mean good things for the fans of this style of game.

Breaking the Mold

Mecha BREAK is an extremely fast-paced action game that will require players to have lightning-quick reflexes and decision-making skills. It takes place in the not-too-far-off dystopian future after humanity has suffered from an apocalyptic event known as the Catastrophe. This has shattered the very landscape as we know it, decimating entire continents and reorganizing the world’s tectonic plates in the process.

Mecha BREAK - Epic

Out of this happening, a new unique resource has started popping out on Earth, known as “Corite” or Eruptive Inorganic Carbide (or EIC for short). This resource is the main point of contention from the various factions of Earth, as the mineral has immense technological and financial value. Those who control the Corite in Mecha BREAK control the world.

As the substance is highly volatile and deadly without proper handling, humanity had to invent massive mechanical walkers to collect and transport it. They had to be bipedal walkers, to be able to navigate the arduous terrain (sorry tank tread fans!). Of course, the best way to handle highly volatile substances is to have epic battles of massive scale right next to them, which we will get to now.

Players will be able to pilot these immense robotic suits that are highly mobile and extremely deadly. It isn’t quite clear just yet the degree of customization available to players, since as of writing there are seven unique mechs and seven unique pilots featured on the Mecha BREAK official site. We do know that the look of individual parts can be changed, with a variety of colors, material types, and other decals.

Hiro Protagonist

The game’s main Protagonist, for example, pilots the Alysnes Biped Striker. This striker has a fully automatic energy autocannon at their disposal, able to fully pelt an enemy in bits of pure energy. They also have a massive reinforced shield that they can use to protect themselves while closing the gap between their target, enabling the use of a deadly battle halberd they can use to pierce foes. They don’t need to worry about taking too many hits or wasting too much ammo either as they have a built-in airdrop system that can help replenish lost ammunition or enable emergency shield recovery.

Everyone Else

Pilot Mathilde Fevre prefers to pilot the highly mobile Falcon striker, which values keeping enemies out of arm’s reach, pelting them with an array of missiles. Much to its namesake, the Falcon has a winged form module at its disposal, enabling extremely fast maneuvers that most Biped Strikers could only dream of performing.

The Tricera striker is a hulking behemoth, even by Mecha BREAK standards. It is a massive walking tank that chooses to equip a pair of gatling guns to decimate its target. As if that wasn’t enough, it has heavier shoulder-mounted versions of its main weapon, providing a storm of bullets, instead of a light shower. Good thing as well, since it can hunker down in Fortress Mode which creates a near-impenetrable defensive system around it.

For the sneakier bunch, the Narukami would be your choice. This striker is the game’s sniper class, letting pilots slip in and out of camouflage as well as grappling themselves to key sniping locations. Its charged beam canon is best used at long range, where it can target key weak points in enemies.

A Royal Encounter

Mecha BREAK will also feature a massive battle royale mode that can have up to 48 players. This should prove to be an extremely chaotic affair, especially since combat in the game looks to be extremely fast-paced.

Interested fans can sign up for a closed Alpha Test for Mecha BREAK by joining its official Discord server. It will only be limited to PC players for now, within certain regions. Selected fans will also need to sign an NDA before they can get fully accepted to become a tester.
