Warning: This article contains spoilers about the ending of Maryland on ITV.

Maryland followed the story of estranged sisters Becca (played by Suranne Jones) and Rosaline (Eve Best) who joined together after their mother was found dead on a beach on the Isle of Man.

The sisters flew to the island and had no idea why their mother was there when she died, but they soon began to unravel all of her secrets.

Viewers discovered their mother was living a double life on the Isle of Man for years, having a huge secret property which she inherited from her late parents.

By the end of the series, the sisters learned their mother had taken her own life and found her suicide note addressed to them.

The tragic circumstances appeared to bring the duo together, with Rosaline intent on staying on the Isle of Man to start a new life there and Becca promising to visit.

@LostInFilmes said: “How exactly did the mother have the time to put down so many roots in her completely different person second life, it’s not like it was a bus ride up the road. #Maryland.” (sic)

Simona McKenzie added: “Yes I have a long list of questions… As always season two may have the answers #Maryland.”

However, Oli said: “#Maryland quite sweet if slow story – I think the main point was probably the relationship between the sisters rather than anything to do with the mother.” (sic)

Debbie shared: “You can’t blame Becca for reacting like that. I think we all would be shocked if we found out our mum was lying and living a double life #Maryland.”
