Every day this week, EA and ESPN are revealing Madden NFL 23 player ratings ahead of its launch date on August 19. While everyone butts helmets about how they’ll shake up, we’ve (correctly) predicted the ratings for the top 10 teams in Madden NFL 23.
Obviously, this isn’t an exact science. We’re not Nostradamus. But we can intuit a lot by looking at how well each team played over the last year, how they were rated in the last game, and which players have been traded their way. Predicting QB ratings was so much easier. Why did we do this to ourselves? (Please don’t shout at us, we’re right).
EA already showed off the top edge rushers, the best wide receivers, and the prime running backs in Madden NFL 23. We’ve included player ratings for those that have been revealed so far and left them blank for the ones that haven’t been unveiled at the time of writing.
With that caveat out of the way, let’s jump into it.

Arizona Cardinals – 86OVR
Kyler Murray with escape artist will be a pain to defend in Madden NFL 23. Murray’s athleticism and threat to run will leave Deandre Hopkins (96OVR) and Zach Ertz (84OVR) with one-on-one coverage most of the game. The Cardinal’s defense may be a little suspect but they bring back young guys like Budda Baker (92OVR) and Byron Murphey Jr who both should be better this year.

Baltimore Ravens 87OVR
Lamar Jackson is the reason you’d use the Baltimore Ravens. They don’t have great Running Backs or great Wide Receivers. TE Mark Andrews (93OVR) is your best target on offense coming in at 86SPD and can stretch the defense vertically to open up underneath routes and even running lanes for Jackson. They also have the best kicker in the game in Justin Tucker (90OVR). This team is not good without Lamar Jackson, but him alone in Madden NFL 23 can win you more games than you’ll lose.

SanFrancisco 49ers 88OVR
With Jimmy G requesting to be traded, you’ll most likely start the season with Trey Lance under center, and in Madden NFL 23, that’s not a bad option. Lance will have some mobility and he has great weapons in Deebo Samuel (89OVR) and George Kittle (97OVR). Fred Warner (94OVR) and Nick Bosa (94OVR) lead that defensive group and they will be adequate. It’s all going to be on how accurate Trey Lance can be and if that offensive line with Trent Williams (99OVR) can hold up.

Green Bay Packers – 88OVR
Aaron Rogers has the best release in the game, but all of that may be moot because his main target, Devante Adams (99OVR), left to go play with the Raiders. This team still has one of the best shutdown corners in Jaire Alexander and a good RB duo in Jones (89OVR) and Dillon (80OVR). Look to be more balanced if you take this team in the game and use TE Robert Tonyan (80OVR) who has the best hands for any TE.

Dallas Cowboys – 88OVR
Although there has been a lack of success win-wise, it’s not because of the lack of talent for the Dallas Cowboys – this team still has a lot of weapons on both sides of the ball. Micha Parsons (88 OVR) is a beast with 91SPD and can go side-to-side with the best of them. Lamb (85 OVR) and Gallup (83OVR) have over 91+ SPD in the game and should make it easier for you to use Dak in the passing game. Not to mention Ezekiel Elliott (88OVR) is still a Top-10 back

Buffalo Bills – 90OVR
The Bills made a deep run last year in the playoffs and have one of the best young QBs in Josh Allen. Add Von Miller (92OVR) to an already great defense and the Bills are poised to make another Super Bowl Run. Stefon Diggs (95OVR) will continue to be Allen’s top target again and the duo of Micah Hyde (91OVR) and Jordon Poyer (90OVR) are the best duo safeties in the league.

Cincinnati Bengals 90OVR
The Bengals Super Bowl run came out of nowhere last year. Headed up by their third-year Pro QB Joe Burrow, we expect them to be even better this year. The Bengals have weapons at every level on both offense and defense starting with Joe Mixon (93OVR), who is a top-5 RB in the game. His combination of speed and strength complements the outside wide receiver threats in Ja’Marr Chase (87OVR), Tee Higgins (83OVR), and Tyler Boyd (84OVR). The defense is not too shabby either, with young guys like FS Jessie Bates III (90OVR), RE Trey Hendrickson (85OVR), and SS Vonn Bell (82OVR). The Bengals are going to be fun to use the whole season long.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 91OVR
Tom Brady is still the GOAT and has enough weapons on offense to put up a lot of points. With the retirement of Rob Gronkowski, there will be no safety outlet to the TE up the seam but Mike Evans (92OVR) and that offensive line will keep Brady clean and allow you to pick apart any defense. Lavonte David (92OVR) and Devin White (92SPD) should be able to slow down some offenses that like to run the ball.

Kansas City Chiefs – 92OVR
The Chiefs are still going to be one of the best teams to use in Madden NFL 23 despite losing their All-Pro speedy WR Tyreek Hill (97OVR) to Free Agency. Mahomes, Kelce (98OVR), and Justin Reid (84OVR) will be more than enough to keep the Chiefs on top of this list throughout the season.

Los Angeles Rams – 93OVR
Last year’s Super Bowl team will be the highest-rated team in the game. Aaron Donald (99OVR), Cooper Kupp (98OVR), and Jalen Ramsey will lead this team back into a playoff run despite losing Odell Beckham, Jr. and Von Miller (92OVR) to Free Agency. Stafford has earned a place as a top-10 QB in the game and getting a healthy Cam Akers (83OVR) back will make this team a little more balanced.
