The wait to see Madden NFL 23 in action is finally over, and it’s looking damn good.
On Thursday, the first gameplay trailer for Madden NFL 23 came out. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will leverage that new-generation horsepower with what EA Sports calls ‘fieldSENSE’ — technology that’ll make passes, sweeps, and tackles look more realistic than ever before. It’ll also let you execute razor-sharp maneuvers through skill-based passing, complete with a reticle and meter that’ll make virtually each play a battle of inches. Finally, an opportunity to show the pros how it’s done!

Franchise Mode is receiving some extra care in Madden NFL 23 too. EA is apparently responding to fan feedback from last year’s entry by refining staff management, scouting, and weekly game planning. There are also additions such as free agency and contract tools, along with loads of interface tweaks that’ll make everything easier to navigate.
Playbooks are receiving revisions as well. There’s still an in-depth playbook rife with tactics, but it’s getting streamlined. Mainly in team-specific plays, which will better reflect each team’s real-life adjacent. EA is underlining realism with Madden NFL 23, which would probably make a certain cover star proud.
Madden NFL 23 will launch on Aug. 19, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Pre-ordering will give you an early access trial on Aug. 16, 2022.
