Bond Effects And Abilities

Lyn and Ivy cast Astra Storm against Zephia

You’ll awaken Lyn early on in the story, which means you’ll have the majority of the game to explore her skills and hone them to perfection. Since Lyn’s primary weapon is a bow, it is only natural that some of her bond effects will buff her speed, making it harder for her to get hit and more likely for her to attack the enemy twice in one encounter. Her Speedtaker ability takes this one step further by stacking these speed buffs when you initiate the battle and continues to stack the longer the battle goes on.

One of Lyn’s Engage abilities that benefits the most with these speed buffs is Call Doubles. This move summons four sword-wielding versions of Lyn that surround and protect her. As enemies unleash their attacks, these doubles will take the hits and dish them back, and the greater the speed buffs, the better chance of these doubles avoiding damage when doing so.

Lyn also has an incredibly useful ability called Alacrity. This ability lets you attack twice before the enemy can follow up when initiating combat, so long as your speed advantage is nine or more. This ability also has advanced versions that you’ll unlock at higher bond levels, making it even easier to get two attacks off in most encounters, and often kill the enemy before they have the chance to respond.

Like all the Emblems, Lyn has an Engage attack that is incredibly powerful. Astra Storm lets you fire a volley of powerful arrows at an enemy from incredibly great distances. This means you can completely obliterate an enemy who is on the other side of the battlefield without ever getting into range of their attacks. Couple this with her Killer Bow which has a high critical rate, or her Mulagir bow which comes with another speed buff and is effective against dragon enemies, and you are able to take down even the most powerful of enemies with ease.

Best Pairings

Ivy engages with Emblem Lyn

When you first awaken Lyn, she’ll be paired up with Ivy. This is honestly one of the best pairings for Lyn since Ivy is Wyvern Rider who can travel many spaces in one turn and wields powerful close-range magic. Since Ivy is vulnerable to bow wielders, Lyn’s ranged attacks keep the enemy at a safe distance. And when you do get into close-range combat, Ivy has both strong magic attacks she can unleash, and the extra movement to get away when needed. This means you can change up your play style on the fly to fit the particular battle you are in and ensure that you’re making an impact regardless of where you are positioned on the battlefield.

You can also choose to pair Lyn with another bow user like Alcryst or Etie. Both will get an additional +10 Range when using Astra Storm since their Covert subclass gets a type bonus with this Engage attack. Zelcof is a knife wielder, but also has this subclass and will get the same perks. This means you’ll likely be dealing damage up close more often than the other two, which will make for a slightly different play style. But even if things do get a little dicey, you can always rely on Lyn’s Call Doubles ability to provide some backup.
