Lycoris Recoil New Animation Project Announced

Lycoris Recoil has announced a new animation project, which could be focused on the second season of the series.


The official Twitter account and the website of Lycoris Recoil have announced that a new animation project in the works. The announcement was originally made in the “Lycoris Recoil Café Presents After Party! Tomorrow is another day” event, which took place recently.


The Tweet reads, “Lycoris Recoil new animation production decision, the story of the two… never ends.” The Tweet didn’t particularly mention if the upcoming project was a TV series or movie. However, we can assume it to be the former, given the series only has one season at the moment, which aired from July to September of the previous year and instantly became a fan favorite.

A new promotional video was also released to commemorate the announcement, which can be checked out below, along with a few key visuals. The teaser trailer mostly focuses on the two main characters of the series, Chisato Nishikigi and Takina Inoue. While some scenes from the trailer revealed their sweet relationship, they can be seen in full-on action mode in the others.

We are yet to hear about the full cast and crew of the upcoming project at the moment, but the official website revealed that the original TV series director, Shingo Adachi, will be working on the project, along with the series’ light novel illustrator, Imigimuru. Also, A-1 Pictures will handle the animation as before. The creators request the fans to keep a close eye on the upcoming project, which means we can expect to hear other important details about the project soon.

Lycoris Recoil is one of the few series whose manga was inspired by their anime projects. The TV series is created by Spider Lily and Asaura, with Shingo Adachi in the director’s seat and music by Shūhei Mutsuki. A spin-off light novel series by the name of Lycoris Recoil: Ordinary Days was also started alongside the manga adaptation after the anime’s huge success.

After an increased number of crimes in Japan, an organization that worked under the name Direct Attack started raising orphaned girls as killers, who helped in keeping the terrorist attacks in check with their exceptional skills.
