Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Anime First Trailer Looks Incredibly Worrying

The upcoming Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer anime adaptation got its first-ever trailer, and sadly, looks like many fans worried about the show’s production were spot on.

The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer, also known as Hoshi no Samidare, is pretty much a legendary manga that regularly popped on anime blogs discussion over a decade ago. No one expected it would ever get an anime, and those hopes were even more dimmed when the original manga ended years ago. And yet an anime did get announced this March, allowing a new generation to find out what makes the series so original and appealing.

Hoshi no Samidare Got Its First Trailer and It’s Quite Unappealing

The original Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer manga has plenty of action scenes that could look appealing to a new audience, and yet this trailer doesn’t take advantage of that at all. While we get to see one of the moments where protagonist Yuuhi first faces a life-or-death situation, there’s no tension and no sakuga.

And to be honest this isn’t surprising. Many fans, myself included, were skeptical when the anime first got announced, thinking this might just be a quick cash grab to milk fans of the manga and the few newcomers who could get pulled in. Assuming anyone new even watches it as overall the trailer doesn’t even make an effort to introduce the series to newcomers outside of its narration.

Coupled with the recurrent production problems of the anime industry and how many shows tend to completely break down through production these days to the point of getting delayed by whole seasons, this is not looking good at all. We might just end up with a glorified voiced version of the Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer rather than the anime everyone dreamed of.

The Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Anime: Release Date

Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Anime will begin airing on July 8, 2022. In the meantime, you can read or rediscover the manga with its English localization on Crunchyroll. It’s likely we’ll soon get more trailers, which hopefully will show a better side of the anime. The OP and ED anime sequences might get revealed before the first episode airs as well. It’ll be best to keep an eye on the anime’s official Twitter and see what Studio NAZ has in store for us.
