Love Island star opens up on ‘controversial’ move after blowing £25K winnings | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Fans were pleased to see Liam Reardon and Millie Court win the summer series of Love Island back in 2021. And with a prize of £25k each, they were equally as happy.

However, Liam has since opened up about how quickly he spent his winnings and why he made the “controversial” decision to join another reality dating show.

Liam recently reflected on his spending with fellow Love Island star Chloe Burrows on her podcast Chloe vs The World.

When asked what he spent the £25k on, Liam replied: “I could not tell you, do you know when you come off and you’re trying to live the high life.

“It was spent on Deliveroo, taxi, McDonald’s – I can’t really say where it went too much.”

He added: “When I came off, I did an interview and they said what’s the money going towards and I said my property business.”

Before entering the Love Island villa, Liam was a bricklayer in Wales. But following his win, he dreamed of buying, renovating and selling properties.

At the time, Liam told The Sun: “I’ll start off in Wales because the house prices are a lot cheaper there. Plus that’s the area where I have all my mates in the same industry.”

However, those plans didn’t take shape.

Liam told Chloe: “Two years down the line and I still haven’t set up no property.”

Last summer, after Liam and Millie broke up, he chose to use an appearance on another reality show to hopefully replenish his dwindling bank balance.

Just two months after their break up, Liam signed up for the E4 reality dating show Celebs Go Dating but love wasn’t the first thing on his mind.

While he wasn’t “ready to be out dating on TV” and knew that it would be seen as “a controversial thing” since he had just broken up with Millie, he simply couldn’t pass up on the opportunity.

He confessed: “I went on it as it was a business opportunity, for the money.

“If you had have asked me two years ago when I was on a building site ‘you’re going to go on a show, do a couple of days and get paid this’ I would have been like ‘f***ing hell’.”

It appears that Liam and Millie have recently rekindled their relationship.

The new series of Love Island starts on ITV2 and ITVX on Monday June 5.
