Netflix has greenlit sci-fi anthology Love Death + Robots for a fourth season. The first season debuted in March of 2019 with some medium acclaim but garnered several Primetime Creative Emmy awards including Outstanding Short Form Animated Program.

The series is produced by David Fincher, Tim Miller, Jennifer Miller, and Joshua Donen. Season 3 came to Netflix on May 20 of this year. This week, director Alberto Mielgo won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for his short, “Jibaro.” The next season was announced in an Instagram post, which you can check out below.

Each episode follows a similar template in that they are all under 20 minutes long, and produced by different casts and crews, though some episodes may have a creator crossover. The series title itself refers to each episode’s thematic connection to the three subjects, though not every episode contains all three.

No creative teams have been announced.

In a 2021 interview with IGN, Tim Miller stated that he hopes to make as many seasons as Netflix will let him. “Why would we stop doing this as long as they let us continue to do it?” he said. “I love animation, and I love animators. They’re just kind of a unique breed. It’s a real honor to be able to bring these people the project that they never thought they would get. It’s really like a Santa Claus sort of moment in the best possible way.”
