Lost Ark Glaivier Guide: How To Build A Glaivier
Glaiviers are one of the Advanced Classes that fall under the Martial Artist Class. They wield a Sharp Spear to allow them to deal impeccable melee damage with the occasional ranged damage from time to time. In terms of difficulty, they’re not considered beginner-friendly in the sense that they need to predominantly perform Back Attacks to get the most out of their Skills. Similar to the Striker, it takes a bit of practice to make sure they’ll successfully damage their enemies.
- Good Sustain and Burst Damage
- Excellent Mobility
- Impressive Identity Self-Buffs or Damage Tripod
- Skills with the Super Armor Buff
- Squishy
As a Lost Ark Glaivier, you’re able to deal a high amount of damage up close and personal or from a distance by either switching stances or concentrating on a single powerful stance. Either way, your excellent mobility helps engage enemies while evading their incoming attacks quite effectively. One of the best qualities that a Glaivier has is her ability to inflict a Crit Resistance debuff, allowing her allies to deal Crit Damage more frequently. This is extremely important as it improves the party’s overall combat efficiency.
Glaivier Class Role and Identity
The Lost Ark Glaivier is a Hybrid DPS Class that deals high sustain damage due to Flurry Skills while still managing to inflict good burst damage when she switches to the Focus Stance to use its corresponding skills. Similar to the other Martial Artists like the Striker and Soulfist, the Glaivier is quick on her feet, which allows her to fluidly move from point A to point B. This is rather advantageous given how squishy the Advanced Class is since her defensive stats are average. However, she does have a lot of skills that grant the Super Armor buff, thereby protecting her from crowd control and knockbacks. When it comes to dealing Stagger Damage, the Glaivier has a couple of decent options but there are better Classes out there who can outperform her in this regard like the Gunlancer and Scrapper.
All Advanced Classes in Lost Ark have unique Specialties or Identities that differentiate them from the other classes. These can either unleash more damage or enhance the buffs they grant. For the Lost Ark Glaivier, it’s the Dual Meter Identity, which provides her with an impressive array of self-buffs including enhanced Movement or Attack Speed, base damage, and Crit Damage or Crit Rate. This is somewhat similar to the Deathblade’s Deathblade Arts.
By default, she starts with the Flurry Stance comprised of Blue Skills that can then be changed to the Focus Stance made up of Red Skills. Every time the Glaivier transitions from one stance to the other, she gets nearly the same amount and types of buffs except for speed and crit. When swapping to the Flurry Stance, Movement Speed and Crit Damage are improved while Attack Speed and Crit Chance are amplified when the Focus Stance is activated. It’s highly recommended to fill up the Dual Meter to Level 3 over time and by successfully hitting enemies with corresponding skills before using it so you can acquire all of the buffs we’ve talked about.
Lost Ark Glaivier Best Skills and Tripods
By the time your Lost Ark Glaivier reaches Level 60, you will have unlocked a total of 22 skills comprised of Flurry, Focus, and Awakening Skills. To add to this, you’ve invested several points into Flurry and Focus Skills to specialize further by unlocking their respective Tripods. The Tripod System allows players to customize skills in various ways by improving damage or reducing the cooldown of respective abilities. In total, you need 8-14 skills for the Glaivier with a select number of tripods. In this section, I’ll cover the essential Flurry and Focus Skills and tripods for both playstyles that are worth 288 skill points in total.
Lost Ark Glaivier Flurry Skills and Tripods
These 6 Flurry Skills are necessary for the Pinnacle Class Engraving. However, you’ll want to fill up the rest of your skill slots to maximize what you can do in combat. The two good skills to add even if their corresponding Skill Lv. is 1, are Flash Kick and Chain Slash. Flash Kick is a decent mobility skill whereas Chain Slash is also a gap closer, which lets you deal extra damage.
Lost Ark Glaivier Focus Skills and Tripods
If you were to select the Lost Ark Glaivier Pinnacle Class Engraving, then you’ll also have access to 6 Focus Skills, which deal an incredible amount of damage. Note that you’ll need to equip all of these skills but you only have to invest points in 3 of them.
Lost Ark Glaivier Additional Flurry Skills and Tripods
Should you choose the Control Class Engraving for the Lost Ark Glaivier, you won’t gain access to any of the Focus Skills and tripods we’ve discussed. You’ll instead have to concentrate on further improving other Flurry Skills. Note that Raging Dragon Slash and Shackling Blue Dragon’s Skill Lv. will remain at Lv. 10 whereas Vault will stay at Lv. 4. However, you’ll have to maximize both Wheel of Blades and Half Moon Slash while increasing the Skill Lv. of Cutting Wind to 7.
To use up the remaining skill points, it’s best to allocate them to Stampeding Slash and Chain Slash.
Lost Ark Glaivier Engravings and Stats
In Lost Ark, every Advanced Class unlocks Engravings that allow you to further specialize in your chosen Class as these grant special effects, which you can activate by reading Recipe Books and equipping Accessories and Ability Stones. You’re able to obtain them as random rewards by completing endgame activities such as Chaos and Abyss Dungeons, and Guardian Raids.
In this section, I’m going to talk about Lost Ark Glaivier Engravings, which determine the playstyle you wish to adopt for your character and are class-specific abilities and traits. You gain access to this when you reach higher levels. The 2 Class Engravings available to the Glaivier are Pinnacle and Control. Let’s first discuss the Pinnacle Class Engraving or playstyle together with the Stats that go with it.
Glaivier Pinnacle Playstyle
Pinnacle significantly improves both the Flurry and Focus Stance buffs, especially at Level 3. As such, when you swap to either stance after maximizing the Dual Meter, your Crit Rate, damage, and Crit Damage will be greater, making you intimidating in combat.
In terms of Pinnacle’s Combat Stats, you’ll want to prioritize Specialization followed by Swiftness when gearing up. This setup not only enhances the efficiency at which you fill up your Dual Meter but also boosts Attack and Movement Speed while reducing the cooldown rate of your skills.
Glaivier Control Playstyle
Comparatively, Control limits you to using Flurry Skills only. But this isn’t painted in a negative light since at Level 3, the damage these skills inflict will be amplified. Furthermore, since you don’t have to worry about your Dual Meter Identity, you can freely select the Final Decision Tripod for added damage.
In terms of Control’s Combat Stats, you should focus on Swiftness to decrease the cooldown rate of your Flurry Skills and then Crit to further improve your Crit Chances.
Final Thoughts
As a Lost Ark Glaivier, you won’t experience much of an adjustment period if you’re already familiar with the other Martial Artists or you’ve sufficiently played the game. But if you’re finding it challenging to successfully execute Back Attacks, then you’ll need to practice some more since positioning is key to inflicting massive damage. In PvP, Glaiviers continue to rely on proper positioning coupled with mobility to engage enemies effectively, followed by skills that deal great damage to finish them off.
The Glaivier’s skill rotation is straightforward regardless of the Class Engraving. What you’ll want to start with is a skill that closes the gap between you and your targets so this includes Flash Kick, Chain Slash, and Cutting Wind. Immediately after, you should activate Shackling Blue Dragon to inflict the Crit Resistance debuff. You can then follow through with a variety of potent Flurry Skills until you maximize the Dual Meter to switch to the Focus Stance. If you’re playing as a Control Glaivier, you can continue hitting enemies with powerful Flurry Skills. The moment the Crit Resistance debuff dissipates and you’re in the Flurry Stance, use Shackling Blue Dragon immediately.
Lastly, seek out a Wealth Rune, which can be obtained from the Giants’ Hearts or Omnium Stars Collectibles, and equip it with Shackling Blue Dragon. This is a skill that you’ll be frequently using so every time it hits the target, you gain a significant amount of energy for your Identity Gauge.
