Lego Fortnite Gameplay Trailer Shows Off Fortnite’s Version Of Minecraft, Out Now

Epic Games and The Lego Group have released a new gameplay trailer for Lego Fortnite on the day that the game launches for everyone. Lego Fortnite sounds a lot like Minecraft in that players scavenge for resources, craft items, and build things either by themselves or with a group.

Lego Fortnite is out now for free from within Fortnite, and Epic says there will be more gameplay features, cosmetics, and “new world-building” elements to come to the game via updates beginning in early 2024.

Lego Fortnite is the first title from Epic and Lego’s partnership that was announced in 2022. At the time, Epic said it was looking to create an “immersive, creatively inspiring, and engaging” game for people of all ages, and that very experience is available for everyone.

Fortnite is not just a game these days and is more akin to a platform where players can access a range of different experiences beyond the battle royale mode that made the game famous. Epic has said it’s intent on creating a metaverse, and Lego Fortnite is pat of that strategy.

Fortnite is also adding a Rocket League racing game and a Rock Band successor to help flesh out its metaverse. As for the main battle royale title, it got a huge Big Bang update this week that made a number of major changes in what Epic has called a “new beginning” for the game.

This is all happening not long after Epic said it was spending “way more” money than it brought in, prompting significant layoffs at the company.
