Much has been said about Larian Studios, the developers of the successful Baldur’s Gate 3, and most of the conversation is initiated by the developers themselves. The game was so acclaimed that the studio’s leaders, including CEO Swen Vincke, use acceptance speeches to talk about the industry in general.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Hasbro will not be working with Larian Studios for future games in the series, and it is in relation to that that the studio once again spoke out about its projects. This time, Swen Vincke himself described their upcoming games as the best of the studio so far.
The comments were made in a post on the BG3’s Steam page, where Larian Studios provided a brief update to its community on what to expect for Baldur’s Gate 3 in the future. However, the studio took the opportunity to talk again about Larian’s upcoming projects, reiterating that they will not be working on a DLC for Baldur’s Gate 3 or a possible Baldur’s Gate 4.
Then, the studio mentioned that they are working on two different projects, which will be two original intellectual properties from Larian Studios. Swen Vincke himself concluded the post with a comment about these projects, saying: “looking at our narrative, visual, and gameplay plans, I believe what we’re doing now will be our best work.” Nevertheless, the studio admitted that it is still too early to show concrete details.
In addition, Larian Studios took the opportunity to thank its fans for their unconditional support and to review the various awards received, mentioning that with the recent BAFTA Games Awards 2024, the title became the first game to receive the Game of the Year award at the five most prestigious ceremonies, which in addition to the BAFTA include the Golden Joysticks, Game Developers Choice, DICE Game Awards, and The Game Awards.
Therefore, the studio also reminded fans that they are actively working on highly requested features, such as crossplay and a Photo Mode for Baldur’s Gate 3.
The next update for the game, which will be the seventh major patch since its release, will include new endings with cinematics for those players who wish to play as an evil character, although it does not yet have a specific release date. Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
