Kingdom of Fallen will be released on Steam on 15th May and developers Digital Souls promise that the game will be a hybrid of survival and souls-like genres focusing on crafting to unlock progression.
Players will embark on an eventful journey through a kingdom of perilous challenges and plentiful personal resources. Coming up against enemies that are too much to handle at your first attempt isn’t a demand simply to get good or give up, but an invitation to use those resources to craft better armour, and weapons, build a shelter nearby and do all you can to prepare for your next attempt.
The different environments make for new opportunities for gathering distinct materials from various locales, encouraging players to seek beneficial resources beyond their beaten paths. Finding animals to ride, and even fly, makes travelling between different regions not only fast, but thrilling.
Check out the official release trailer below:
The trailer shows a lot of focus on the crafting elements to start, which suggests that the game will be more about creating the right gear you need to defeat each opponent rather than just learning boss mechanics. We don’t get to see much of the combat side of things but what we do see appears suitably soulslike.
