Johnny Cage voice actor teases his involvement in possibly the next Mortal Kombat

Action movie star and martial artist Johnny Cage has been collecting guts for Mortal Kombat for years on end, and the next bloody adventure seems to be on the horizon. The voice actor behind the iconic character, Andrew Bowen, tweeted a video showing himself at the Warner Bros. Studio lot, presumably to record some new material. Let the carnage begin again.

Mortal Kombat 11 was released just a few years ago in 2019, and we haven’t heard much news about a sequel. That is, until VGC reported (via journalist Jeff Grubb) that NetherRealm was “prioritizing Mortal Kombat 12 over Injustice 3.” Grubb suggested that developers are currently working on the sequel to the violent fighting game. With Bowen possibly teasing some new material, it seems like this wasn’t far off at all.

“It lines up with the reality and it lines up with what I’ve heard, where Mortal Kombat 12 would make the most sense because that’s a game they know will make money, it will sell well,” Grubb stated.

Fatality

NetherRealm is supposedly steering away from Injustice 3, as Mortal Kombat is a high-selling IP that isn’t bogged down by licensing issues with parent company WB Games. This means that, with Bowen presumably recording new material, Mortal Kombat 12 may release sooner rather than later with Johnny Cage. And if not totally obvious, this means we already know one character coming to the next roster.

The tweet has since been deleted for unknown reasons, but either way, bring on some more Mortal Kombat. The IP is currently thriving, with a sequel to the recent video game movie adaptation in development. Hopefully, we’ll get to see some more news about Mortal Kombat 12 and Johnny Cage in the upcoming months. The most violent fighting game in the world is destined to continue, and I’m ready for the fatalities.
