Ishin! Showcases Side Activities In New Trailer

Players can raise stray animals encountered around town, plant vegetables, and cook meals for dinner.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has released a short gameplay trailer for Like A Dragon: Ishin, giving players an insight into side activities and other tasks that they can perform alongside the game’s main story. The trailer highlights cooking, farming, and pets that can be kept around the protagonist Ryoma’s household.

As seen in the trailer, viewable below, players can spend their time in peace with a catalog of side activities, including cooking, harvesting, petting, and interacting with other characters. They won’t have to follow the main story all the time, as they can build a social network around the city of Bakumatsu, where they can participate in mini-games and take on challenges to earn rewards.

Players will plant vegetables near their household and harvest them when they grow after a certain amount of time. Then, they can cook meals for themselves by chopping the plants up.

The trailer features a scene of Ryoma helping an injured dog out and petting a cat that expresses its happiness by doing somersaults. Ryoma’s interaction with Haruka was also showcased in the gameplay snippet. He can place orders to complete the missing materials in the house through Haruka, such as white bait, conger eel, homemade pickles, and silver plates. Besides, Like A Dragon: Ishin! is packed with a handful of recreational activities around Bakumatsu, including karaoke rhythm game, Buyo Dancing, and Courtesan Games.

Players can also earn money by trading vegetables, as they can also raise stray puppies encountered in town. It isn’t all hard work, though, Like A Dragon: Ishin! previously unveiled a couple of challenges and sub-stories that allow Ryoma to be acquainted with other characters, such as The Captain and the Curious and The Spitfire Town Protector stories. Players will complete different tasks to progress in sub-stories, in which they will encounter a few returning characters from Yakuza 0: Bacchus and Yae.

For instance, ‘The Captain and the Curious’ sub-story requires players to collect memories scattered all over Bakumatsu and submit them to Satow triggers. There are also characters with that Ryoma can discuss opinions and cultural differences between societies, meaning the game is not all about cutting heads off or destroying gangs in town.

Like A Dragon: Ishin is due to release on February 21 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X.
