Is Palworld multiplayer? Co-op, explained

This Pokémon-inspired open-world game lets you farm crops, craft items, and collect adorable Pals. But is Palworld co-op multiplayer, and how does it work?

Before you get ahead of yourself, there’s a lot you need to know about the single player and multiplayer aspects of Palworld.

Palword: How does the co-op multiplayer work?

Luckily, there is a co-op multiplayer mode in Palworld, but let me explain further how this works. It’s not just your typical 4-player game, except for the fact that it’s certainly a feature. In a private server, up to four players can explore dungeons, catch and breed Pals, and even create factories.

Of course, you’re free to play on your own. But did you know that you can create a dedicated server that allows up to 32 players? That’s a pretty huge number, and you may not ever reach it. But it’s neat to see that up to 32 people can live in one Palworld server together.

Think of Palworld like it’s a parody of Pokémon. You catch Pals, and can force them to do your bidding by working in factories or tending to your farm. It’s dark, yet it has a bright color palette that really juxtaposes what’s happening in the game.

On the question of PVP, the Steam’s store page says that Palworld will receive PVP in a future update. So for now, you’ll only be able to work alongside your friends, not against them. Pocketpair, the developer, also noted that the maximum server size will increase in a future update.

Since Palworld is releasing on January 19 in Early Access, this is just the beginning, and information is expected to change. Once it drops in Early Access, you’ll at least be able to play with a decent amount of friends, whether it’s on a small or large server. Or maybe just play alone!
