The latest Yakuza title is right around the corner, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is going to task players with venturing into a tropical paradise as some beloved characters. However, going into the game, players will want to know if the combat still uses turn-based similar to the last title.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth: Is it turn-based combat?

With 2020’s Like a Dragon, the series not only shifted to a brand new protagonist in the form of Ichiban Kasuga but also completed a pivot towards turn-based combat. This was inspired by the backstory of Ichiban and his profound love for the Dragon Quest titles, some of the most highly regarded JRPGs.

Going into the next installment in the series, Infinite Wealth will use the turn-based model once again for all of its main combat scenarios. However, as showcased throughout some of the early trailers in the leadup to the game’s release, Kiryu Kazuma can break out of the turn-based format thanks to Dragon’s Resurgence.

Besides this exception, we can assume the combat is going to stay turn-based for every other character. But, in typical Yakuza fashion, there’s bound to be some mini-games or side quests where players can use brawler combat instead.

However, we can’t say for sure yet, so we’ll be sure to update this page if we hear any more news regarding this issue.
