Is Fortnite Rocket Racing Down? Service Shutting Down Error Explained.

0

Rocket Racing has just released on Fortnite, and in usual fashion, there seems to be matchmaking errors. What’s going on? Is Rocket Racing down?

Is Rocket Racing down?

Players who are trying to access Rocket Racing on Fortnite are having lots of difficulties, myself included. When trying to queue up for a game, many players are struggling to join matches, and the “player.queueing failure.208” error pops up, kicking them out of the queue.

Again and again, I’ve tried to enter a game, and was only able to slip in one match before I was condemned to eternal joining errors.

This may lead us to believe that Rocket Racing is actually down, and there is conflicting evidence for this case.

It doesn’t seem like Rocket Racing is officially down, although there is something wrong with matchmaking.

Firstly, Rocket Racing is an online multiplayer game that has just launched, so the servers struggling can be expected, which leads to players en mass getting kicked out of queues and having to try again. Also, the official Epic Games server status says that Fortnite’s servers are operational, which means there is no detected error stopping players from playing.

However, when getting kicked from a match, we aren’t exclusively getting the “player.queueing failure.208” error, but sometimes we may receive the following message:

“Something’s up with matchmaking, so we’re turning it off and back on again. Hang tight! It’ll be back up shortly. (service.shutting_down.2)”

This directly tells us that Epic Games is having difficulties finding out what’s wrong with the matchmaking, and they’re trying the classic ‘turn it off and on again’ trick. No official outlet has commented on this issue.

It seems like we simply have to wait for Epic Games to figure out what is going on with their matchmaking, and hope that it doesn’t take too long.
