Is Content Warning coming to consoles? Answered

With the huge success of Content Warning on Steam, fans are understandably wondering whether or not it’ll be arriving on consoles in the near future. So can you look forward to playing Content Warning on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch?

Content Warning: Is it releasing on consoles?

Currently, Content Warning is not coming to consoles and there are no plans for it, but it’s not totally out of the question. On launch day on April 1, Landfall Games released Content Warning for free on Steam, but only for the first 24 hours. It picked up immediately since six million players decided to grab it while it was free. Due to the fervent success of Content Warning’s launch, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a console release in the future.

Despite this, the developers at Landfall have already made some confirmation that they’re not sure if Content Warning will arrive on consoles. In an interview with Game Watcher, Landfall said this when asked about console versions of the co-op horror game:

We don’t know yet! Currently, some technical bits would make the console versions difficult but we will look into it.

The humongous flooding of players wasn’t exactly on Landfall’s radar. The game was created by a small development team of just five members, but Landfall has released games in the past that have had console releases like Stick Fight and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator.

So the developer isn’t new to the console space, but it seems like a console version of Content Warning could be difficult to craft. Landfall has already proven to be ready to tackle updates just within the first few days after launch, so it’s still a possibility. An April 3 patch contained changes and additions like two new items and a projector for fun filming backdrops.

For now, you can purchase Content Warning for $7.99 on Steam and play with up to three other players. It involves you and your friends attempting to become SpookTube famous by video-taping monsters in the Old World to capture viral footage. Although a console release may not be on the horizon, what about its compatibility with the Steam Deck?
