If You’re Going Down With The Ship, Almost Everything In Marvel’s Avengers Is Now Free

Marvel’s Avengers is preparing to offer nearly everything on the Marketplace for free before joining the graveyard of live service games. The game’s final update grants almost all cosmetics to everyone and comes with a series of hero buffs for the players who have stuck with Crystal Dynamics’ failed superhero title.

The developer announced its decision to pull the plug on Marvel’s Avengers, which had been seemingly doomed to its fate before making its debut three years ago by choosing the path of a live service title. Even though the signals of its downfall were imminent from the beginning, publisher Square Enix continued to provide support and had the developer release new skins, cosmetics, and more superheroes from the Marvel universe.

Similar to many titles in the genre, Square Enix’s take on the Avengers in the form of a live-service product yielded a great failure, as the developer has shared that the game will have its content support ceased on September 30.

Those who decide to continue taking the role of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will be able to get their hands on almost every skin that has been offered throughout the title’s three years of operation, starting with the game’s next update. The final content patch also grants outfits, character emotes, and nameplates to everyone updating their game to v2.8.

Alongside completely unlocking the Marketplace for everyone, the final official content update will also add final buffs to the character roster to “make Heroes will more powerful” as players “continue to enjoy Marvel’s Avengers in the future.” For example, Winter Soldier will become a bit more agile by tweaking its charge animation, which no longer prevents him from coming up with solid ranged power attacks.

Those who plan to stick with Marvel’s Avengers as it winds down can have a look at the patch notes to see the final adjustments in the game’s combat system. The game will also receive a minor hotfix on April 4, which will fix the issue with Faction Terminal Missions and Assignments. These missions will not be completable until that time.
