Upgrading Frey’s magic can lead to different spells, more attack combinations, and also a potential increase to your overall character stats in Forspoken.

Frey’s spells are available for your viewing in the menu’s Magic section. There you will find a skill web or Magic Tree that allows you to hold down a button to upgrade or reverse the upgrade of your magic. Mana is used to evolve your magic, and any magic spell can be leveled up or decreased in level however many times as you want. Editing your growth of magic abilities is key for creating builds in Forspoken.

How To Customize Magic

Because you can freely allocate the Mana of Frey’s spells after her default set, you are able to create different builds as you progress in the game. Want to power up one spell in particular to (the maximum) level 3? Maybe unlearn a Support Magic spell or your least preferred Attack Magic spell, so you have enough Mana. Maybe you want to strengthen Frey and a spell through Spellcraft Challenges? You can always devolve your spells, so you have easier and more accurate access to complete the Spellcraft Challenge’s usage requirement.

These level changes to the spells you learn or unlearn aren’t permanent, and even if you quit a Spellcraft Challenge, your ongoing progress is saved. You’ll just have to return to a Spellcraft bookshelf in a Pilgrim’s Refuge or Guild to grab the challenge again. Spellcraft Challenges grant you character stat increases and special effects for some spells upon use.

The purpose of upgrading your magic can be to spread your Mana to all your available spells in the Magic Tree or strengthen them to maximum, but you’ll be able to adapt your arsenal based on the situation you find yourself in by taking advantage of the ability to customize learning spells back and forth. This freedom lets you better prepare yourself for specific enemies, bosses, grinding, or even crafting of items that you have to do.

How To Earn Mana

The easiest way to earn Mana in Forspoken is by manually collecting the pillars of Mana that exist all over the open world of Athia. Use Cuff-Scan to find Mana near you which will have a small gold diamond logo above it. Exploring unknown areas on the map will easily give you places to score some Mana.

Leveling up your character also works to be granted some Mana. When you collect enough Mana to learn or upgrade Magic, a pop-up will go on your screen to notify you. Grinding for EXP will not only level up your character stats, but it will also earn you some Mana.

Another way to earn some Mana is through directly being rewarded by completing map objectives. Point of Interest Icons include Mana, and some of the various landmarks in the land of Athia will let you know on your menu map that Mana is available. Simply go check out the area and clear the place of all corrupted enemies.
