Fire Emblem Engage let’s you test your flying and shooting skills in Wyvern Riding – Here’s how to unlock it.
Have you ever wanted to ride a dragon? I mean, who wouldn’t want to? In Fire Emblem Engage, you get to live out this fantasy in a couple of ways: on the battlefield and in a practice range.
Although you’ll spend most of your dragon-riding hours moving troupes on the battlefield, you’ll want to occasionally work in some time to do the Wyvern Riding activity when you are back in Somniel. Here is how you can unlock Wyvern Riding, and how to play the mini-game.
How To Unlock Wyvern Riding
When you first get access to freely roam Somniel, most of the extra activities will not be immediately available. Wyvern Riding is one of the activities you will unlock later in the story, and will require you to first encounter and defeat Ivy, Crown Princess of Elusia.
After defeating her in the snowy mountains near Brodia, you’ll head to a cathedral where some major story events will unfold. After surviving this encounter, Ivy will join your team. Once back in Somniel, select Ivy and use a Master Seal to change her class to Linwurm. Upon doing so, Wyvern riding will unlock, and you can participate by visiting the area to the left of the Training Yard.
How To Play The Mini-Game
Like the other mini-games you can do in Somniel, Wyvern Riding is pretty straightforward. The game has you flying on the back of Ivy’s Wyvern while shooting at targets. The flight path puts you on rails, so you won’t have to worry about steering the beast, you’ll only have to worry about aiming at the targets.
As you fly around the course, you’ll encounter basic targets that give you points when you shoot them. Some targets will cause an explosion, making it easier to take out a bunch of regular targets at once. Other special targets will influence your fire rate. Additionally, if you choose to ride with your animal companion, they’ll fire a constant barrage of shots in addition to the ones you control by pressing A.
When you complete the course, you’ll be ranked based on how many targets you destroyed, and your rating will determine primarily how many Bond Fragments you receive. You can also occasionally win items as well. Continue playing through the main story to unlock more courses and prizes.
