How to catch animals and harvest their materials in Wild Hearts

Catching animals is very easy and straightforward. You only have to walk or sneak near the animal you want to capture and press the corresponding button (‘L2’ or ‘LT’ if you’re using a controller and the ‘E key’ on the M/KB users) before they get away. As a tip for capturing them, we recommend scouting the area first, then running toward the animal while spamming the capture/catch button since animals tend to run away when you approach them.

Wild Hearts offer a variety of animals to obtain within its vast, semi-open world. The best place to start is by looking under every nook and cranny of the map since some animals are very small and might require a keen eye to see them correctly. Nonetheless, most areas within the world contain small animals, so you don’t have to search too far to catch them.

After capturing them, you can create a Wildlife Cage for the animal while harvesting their resources. To create a Wildlife Cage in Wild Hearts, you must go through lots of Karakuri upgrades first, meaning that you have to slay lots of Kemono to access this mechanic. After learning how to create a Wildlife Cage, conjure the cage using the usual Karakuri method of deploying them as part of your base, then place it anywhere within the Dragon Pit. You can interact with the Wildlife Cage and put the animal into the cage afterward. These materials can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, and even bathhouses.
