Bandai Namco recently dropped a trailer for Tekken 8 that provides fans with two announcements to chew on. The first revealed another playable fighter in the form of Feng Wei, the power-hungry Chinese Kenpo practitioner who first joined the series’ cast in Tekken 5. The other, arguably more important announcement unveiled the upcoming closed beta test, which players will have the chance to try starting Friday, October 20 at 10 a.m. Central European Summer Time until Monday, October 23 at 9 a.m. CEST. Players excited to try Tekken 8 early can register for the closed beta test from now until Wednesday, October 11 at 9 a.m. CEST. Here’s what you can do to sign up.

Applying for the closed beta test

The sign-up process should prove fairly straightforward, and you can find it near the bottom of the Closed Beta Test page on the official Tekken 8 website. In the Sign Up section, simply enter your email address, your preferred gaming platform, and your country of residence before verifying your identity and clicking on the Sign Up button. Note that if you played the closed network test that began in July, you can play the closed beta test without having to apply for it.

Bandai Namco will decide which players can try out the closed beta test through “a first arrived, first served rule,” so applicants should ideally sign up as soon as possible to secure a spot. Those chosen will receive an email notification on October 11 at 12 a.m. PDT. Notably, the beta test will go through server maintenance on Saturday, October 21 from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. PDT, meaning you can’t play during that timeframe.

The closed beta test for Tekken 8 will let players sample the Ranked Match, Quick Match, and Tekken Fight Lounge modes in addition to a selection of 19 playable characters and six stages. These include the newly added Raven and Feng as well as newcomer Azucena and her associated stage, so those who already experienced the closed network test will have plenty more to try out here.
