Recruiting Jeunan and Ravness in Tactics Ogre: Reborn can be tricky, but it’s well worth your time to use these powerful characters.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn brings back many characters from the PSP release, including fan-favorite Dame Ravness Loxaerion. This powerful knight can join your party once more in Reborn, but to recruit her you’ll need to go through quite a few steps, including recruiting another storied knight, Jeunan.
In this guide, you can find out every step you’ll need to take to get both these great characters on your team.
Follow The Law Path
Both Jeunan and Ravness are only available if you are on the Law path. We have a guide that explains exactly what that means.
After you make the first decision at Balmamusa sending you down this route, you will immediately be put into a battle in which Ravness will appear as an enemy. You must defeat all other enemies while keeping Ravness alive in order to be able to recruit her later.
Set Ravness Free
Early in Chapter 2, as you fight toward Port Asyton, you will get a new Talk Topic called “Ravness Loxaerion Captured.” Once you read this, the Reisan Way location will appear on the map. Go here to trigger a battle. When you are given a dialogue option, select “I cannot leave you here.”
You must again keep Ravness alive while you defeat the enemies, though thankfully she will fight as an ally this time. After the battle, you will get a cutscene in which Ravness leaves, but you’re still on the right track to recruiting her.
Recruit Jeunan At Brigantys Castle
After the Chapter 2 battle against Sir Hektor at Brigantys Castle, you will get a scene in which Denam talks with Sir Briam and a number of Galgastani dissenters. When presented with a dialogue option, select “How could they be?” and Jeunan will join the party.
You must recruit Jeunan now in order to get Ravness later.
Jeunan joins as a Level 19 Dragoon. He is an excellent all-round character who can be used in any melee role.
Conversation With Roberval
Immediately after Jeunan joins, you will face a battle at Bahanna Highlands. Make sure Jeunan is in your battle party.
During the battle, you must reduce the enemy leader Roberval to less than 70% health, and then on his next turn a conversation will trigger, which will continue on each of Jeunan’s next two subsequent turns. You must keep both Roberval and Jeunan alive for long enough to see all of the dialogue, which ends with Denam saying “What?!”
At this point, you can kill Roberval and complete the mission. You will see one final line of dialogue from Denam if you have followed the above steps correctly: “Balbatos must fall, or they died for nothing.”
Recruit Ravness At Bahanna Highlands
Shortly after the Roberval battle, you will move on to take Coritanae Castle. Once the castle is yours, you can return to Bahanna Highlands, and another battle will automatically commence. For the final time, you must keep Ravness alive while defeating all enemies.
Once this battle is complete, Ravness will join the party.
Ravness joins as a Level 19 Valkyrie. She is very fast and can be used as almost any class, but it is worth noting she is one of the only characters in the game other than Gildas and Mirdyn who can use the White Knight Class.
