How to raise student happiness

To get the best grades in Two Point Campus, you need to make sure students are engaged in their classes. The biggest contributor to this is their happiness because no one wants to learn when they’re miserable. There are a few contributing factors to this that you’ll have no control over – for example, Class Clowns raise the entertainment and happiness of the whole class – but there’s plenty you can do too.

It’s your job to make sure that students’ needs are met and that they have the facilities to perform at their best. So, if you’ve got yourself up and running and need to cheer up your students, put on a happy face and try these tips.

Build high-level Dormitories and Student Lounges

The Dormitory is an essential room for any campus. Your students will need to regularly rest and recharge between classes, so they’re going to be spending a lot of time here. If you decorate the room well and place extra things like desks you’ll create a very high-level room, boosting the mood of everyone who uses it.

Student Lounges are rooms dedicated to raiding happiness, so fill it with everything your Kudosh can get you. Arcade machines, gaming tables, dart boards, anything fun that will let everyone blow off some steam. Student Unions are much the same, so make sure your students are never too far away from one or all of these rooms.

Put need-fulfilling objects everywhere

It’s all well and good having a level 20 bathroom, but if it’s the other side of campus from the students’ classroom, then it’s useless. You need to be putting bathrooms and showers everywhere to keep things running smoothly, if a student is too far away from a toilet in class, they’ll just stand there getting upset.

You don’t need to break the bank with it either. All you need is two or three stalls in each bathroom or shower room, just make sure you’ve got enough janitors to cover the wide workload.

The same goes for food and drink. Vending machines are easy and cheap, but they’ll decrease your student’s health, so if you can afford to pay the staff, build things like ramen stands and coffee stalls instead.

Provide lots of social items

Students who have lots of social connections or romances will be a lot happier than average, so give them plenty of opportunities to bond. Student Lounges and Student Unions are great for this, but you can put lots of benches and tables all over campus to encourage students to get together.

This is also where clubs come in. They give handy bonuses, like increasing student walk speed, or letting them sleep on their feet, but they allow for a lot of socialising too. Make sure the club sign-up booths are right at the entrance to your campus, and place group-specific stands all over the place to bring people together.

Hire/train friendly staff

Your top priority when hiring staff should always be their teaching ability, but if you spot anyone with entertainment or happiness-boosting traits, consider hiring them to keep students in high spirits. Alternatively, once you’ve got a few training machines on campus, you can manually apply those traits to all of your staff. Friendly staff will cheer up everyone around them, so the more you have on campus, the quicker your average happiness will rise.

Run regular events

If you need a quick boost in happiness to meet a goal or improve flagging grades, then events are a great way to do that. It costs a bit of cash, but if you’re secure in your finances then it’s a great idea to splash out on bringing musicians into your Student Unions and parties in the lounges. This is why it helps to have several of the same room types, as you can run different events in each of them and get as many students attending as possible.
