How to perform a spell sync in Dragon’s Dogma 2

0

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a pretty excellent tutorial system, where the game introduces you to the basics of the game. What the game doesn’t tell you, though, is advanced combat techniques, such as syncing spells with your pawns.

When you sync a spell, you do more damage and decrease the casting time. This guide will cover performing a sync spell in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to use spell syncing in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Syncing a spell was a mechanic in the original Dragon’s Dogma, and it’s a pleasant surprise to see it appear in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Syncing spells in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is no easy task; it requires precise timing and two sorcerers in the party. In other words, if you want to be the one performing a synced spell, your character’s vocation must be a sorcerer.

To perform a synced spell with one of your pawns, you must cast the same spell simultaneously while standing next to them. Doing so will cause both you and your pawn to cast the spell quicker and in unison, resulting in more damage. Since some spells take a long time to cast, performing a synced spell can make it much more valuable and effective.

Keep in mind that the spell doesn’t have to be the same tier for them to sync. For example, if one character has the Salamander spell equipped and the other has High Salamander, syncing the spell will still work. All that matters is the spell is of the same type and element for spell syncing to be possible in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Can Mages spell sync in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Unfortunately, mages cannot sync spells in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Similar to the first game, this combat mechanic is exclusive only to the Sorcerer’s vocation. I would have liked to have the ability to sync spells as a mage, mainly because I prefer the mage’s playstyle much more. But what’re you gonna do?

Now that you know you must be a Sorcerer to perform sync spells, it’s time to prepare. Check out our guide on the best Sorcerer build in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
