There are sixteen different weapons available to choose from in The Sons of the Forest, all of which are hidden in various locations around the map. Because you can collect resources and make your supplies and weapons, the possibilities are virtually unlimited and are only limited by the player’s imagination.

In the opening week of the game’s early release, developers released an update that implemented the ability to assign hotkeys to specific weapons that are in the player’s inventory, making it easy and more efficient when swapping weapons and items as opposed to the traditional inventory method.

How To Organize Your Backpack

With little information given on how to organize the backpack when entering the inventory/backpack via quick select, this may be almost unknown to players that they cannot only assign hotkeys but also arrange the backpack to customize its layout for when accessing it via the quick-select option. This can be done by holding down the inventory key until the player raises the backpack to head height.

Apart from the hotkey method of switching weapons and items, the quick-select option is the second best when it comes to changing weapons on demand without accessing the inventory. This makes perfect use for those who are forgetful as to which hotkey is assigned to the weapon they’re searching for. Also, it gives you a healthy quantity of your weapons, consumables, and items that can be seen visually hanging from the player’s backpack.

First, you must access the normal inventory menu to organize your backpack. This can be a button by pressing your inventory key. This may vary depending on how your controls are set up. Once you have pressed the inventory key, the player will unroll his backpack, and the inventory menu will be displayed.

Once this menu is displayed, hover your cursor over the backpack that can be found in the top right of your inventory. When presented with the option to “Add Items,” click the appropriate interact button to start arranging your backpack.

Once the backpack is moved to the center of the player’s inventory roll, proceed to find the item you wish to add to your backpack and quickly select it, once you hover your cursor over the item in question, you will be presented with the prompt to add. This adds the item to your quick selection. If you wish to remove any of the items that are already assigned to the backpack’s quick-select, simply hover over the item you wish to remove and press the prompt to remove when it’s displayed.
