How to open and exit the Moldy Depths in Jedi Survivor

The Moldy Depths is another puzzle in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor with specific requirements regarding how to open and exit the location. The secret lies in a command that’s otherwise not necessary to even use throughout the game, making it a clever, but simple solution.

The Moldy Depths is situated below the Bedlam Raider base on Koboh, not far from Rambler’s Reach. You might recognize the entrance from another quest regarding unlocking the Jukebox for Greez’s cantina, because the characters were just to the right of it. Opening the Moldy Depths simply requires pulling the gate latch from its pedestal and mounting it nearby. You can then slide down into the Moldy Depths, but getting out is another matter entirely.

How to open and exit the Moldy Depths in Jedi: Survivor

Once you get into the Moldy Depths, you’ll quickly make out the sounds of a pack of screaming Gorgers. Move in a little closer and you’ll see they are threatening a Nekko, which you need to save. After defeating the Gorgers, you’ll then be able to tame the Nekko and ride it up to the nearby gate. Dismount the Nekko and then circle back around the entire cavern to the other side of the gate.

You’ll see another gate latch, but this time there’s nowhere to mount the gate latch to keep it from closing. This is when to use the “summon mount” command that you otherwise probably forgot about. It’s right bumper or R1 on controller and Ctrl on keyboard. The Nekko will then respond and move to you so that you can release the latch. Mount the Nekko and you can then use it to jump up to a nearby ledge which allows you to climb out of the Moldy Depths. There’s also a Priorite Shard on ground.

This is one of the few times the game requires you to call a mount. In most cases, mounts are not necessary since you can fast travel. There’s also a limited area in which you can free roam on mounts, further diminishing their role in the game. However, there is one more puzzle that requires you to “summon mount” so it’s worth remembering this trick.

In fact, the other puzzle is conveniently located right above the Moldy Depths at the barn just outside the Bedlam Raider base. What’s more, you exit the Moldy Depths right next to the barn, so you might as well solve that puzzle while you’re there.

Like with many puzzles in Jedi: Survivor, the Moldy Depths isn’t terribly difficult to exit once you know how to open the door and get the Nekko through. We also have guides for other challenges and puzzles in the game including how to beat Caij in Holotactics and how to solve the Trailhead Pantheon puzzle, so check back for more help.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the EA app for PC.
