Even though Payday 3 is being hit with a wide amount of issues, when you manage to get into a game, things are fairly solid. You can be creative in how you attempt each heist, and in turn, use fewer resources. I found while playing Payday 3, the more you think outside the box, the more rewarding experience you have. Which ultimately makes the heist shooter fun to play. There are many things you can do in the game in terms of being creative. One of them is to lure guards away from their posts in Payday 3, and this guide will show you exactly how to do it.
Payday 3: How to lure guards
The absence of luring guards as a mechanic is a strange one, especially in a game like Payday 3 where it does work. However, thanks to crafty minds over on Reddit, it looks like you can still do this mechanic even if Starbreeze never intended for it. First, you’ll need to use Throwing Knives. These can be unlocked by leveling up for Infamy.

Once you have the knives and you’re using stealth, simply throw them by using the G key in the direction you want the guard to go in. He’ll walk over, but it doesn’t count as a search which means the guard would spend a short amount of time looking for a disturbance. So you must be quick to navigate to the area you want to go to.
Note: When using a Throwing Knife or any throwable item, you have to use the G key. You’ll need to put on the mask in order for the key to switch prompts. So when you throw the knives, your mask will already be on.

Why is luring better?
For starters, it won’t alert a guard and get their friends to trigger a search. Second, if you’re stealthy, the knives will help keep guards away from you so you won’t have to take them out. This means, that if you keep guards busy by checking on your distractions, the heist might be easier with less pressure around you. When you play passively like this, things do tend to go your way — especially in the late game.
