How to liquidate Legendary Shards in Destiny 2 before they’re gone

It’s been known that Bungie is getting rid of Legendary Shards altogether in Destiny 2 starting in Season of the Wish. Before they do that, you should use all your Legendary Shards to stockpile rare materials and other useful items.

Best ways to use Legendary Shards in Destiny 2 before they’re gone

After researching the best ways to use your Legendary Shards before they’re gone, I discovered four ways to make the most of your Legendary Shard pool. Legendary Shard sunsetting is starting at the beginning of Season of the Wish, so I highly recommend getting into the game and exchanging your Legendary Shards for other useful materials before it’s too late.

Buy Raid Banners

Since I don’t Raid, this one doesn’t apply to me, but if you Raid a lot, stocking up on Raid Banners is a good idea. Talk to Suraya Hawthorne near The Drifter to buy one Raid Banner for three Legendary Shards or 10 Raid Banners for 30 Legendary Shards.

Buy Ascendant Alloys, Enhancement Prisms, and Enhancement Cores from Rahool

Personally, I think buying rare materials like Ascendant Alloys, Enhancement Prisms, and Enhancement Cores is the best thing you can do with your Legendary Shards. You do this material exchange with Rahool in The Tower. Ascendant Alloys and Enhancement Prisms have a weekly limit of one and three and Enhancement Cores have a daily limit of five, so act fast.

Ascendant Alloys cost 400 Legendary Shards, Enhancement Prisms cost 400 Legendary Shards, and Enhancement Cores cost 30. You can also just buy 10,000 Glimmer straight up for 10 Legendary Shards which isn’t a bad option.

Buy Xur’s Exotic Engram

Xur sells an Exotic Engram that you can buy for 97 Legendary Shards. This method is guaranteed to give you an Exotic you don’t have (as long as you meet the qualifications like owning the DLC) which makes it a great strategy if you are starting a new class.

Buy Phantasmal Fragments

You can also create a Glimmer factory that’ll be active well after Legendary Shards are gone if you own Shadowkeep. Buy one Phantasmal Fragment from the Lectern of Enchantment on The Moon for 10 Legendary Shards. If you own 10 Phantasmal Fragments, you can exchange 10 of them with Rahool for 10,000 Glimmer.

If you want to burn through even more Shards, you can buy Weapon Levels on your Focused Weapons with the material you use Legendary Shards to buy (i.e. Enhancement Cores and Glimmer). Be sure to utilize all of the practices mentioned above before Legendary Shards are gone for good.
