How To Inherit & Equip Skills

0

Inheriting Skills in Fire Emblem Engage allows you to customize your heroes with powerful augments. This guide shows how to earn and inherit skills.

When Units have an Emblem Ring equipped, they earn experience points and increase their support status, which deepens the bond between the Unit and the Emblem. Units have a Bond Level and Bond Relationship Rank with each individual Emblem. When a Unit reaches a certain Bond Relationship Rank, they can then Inherit Skills from the Emblem and increase their potency in battle.

In order to maximize your Unit’s ability on the battlefield, you must manage their Skills effectively. Units in Fire Emblem Engage have Personal, Class, and Emblem Skills that provide unique passive or active abilities. These Skills can be extremely powerful in Engage and can synchronize together to create a cascade of events. To get the most powerful Units, develop the Bonds they have with your Emblems and use their skills in harmony.

Increase Emblem Bond To Rank C

FE Engage Skill Inheritance

First, you must increase the Bond Relationship between a Unit and an Emblem. From the Somniel or World Map, press + and access the Somniel / World Map Menu. Then select Reference, followed by Bond, and select a Unit. This will show you that Unit’s Bond Relationship Rank with each Emblem (it will only show Emblems that are current in your party).

To Inherit Skills, you must attain a level of a Bond Relationship of Rank C. To increase this rank, you need to complete battles on the World Map while having an equipped Emblem Ring on your Units. Any battles will do – Skirmishes, Training, Paralogue, or Story Chapters. When the Unit Attacks, uses Engage Skills, or counter-attacks an opponent, they will increase their Bond Relationship Rank and Bond Level with their equipped Emblem. As your Units’ Bond Level increases, you will have access to more Inherited Skills.

FE Engage Bond Conversation

Once you’ve reached Rank C with an Emblem, you must have a support conversation between the Unit and the Emblem. From the Somniel or the World Map, press + and access the Reference option. Select Bond, the Unit showcasing a yellow dialog image, and then watch a short cutscene. Afterward, the Unit’s Bond Relationship Rank will be increased.

Visit The Ring Chamber In The Somniel

FE Engage Ring Chamber-1

Travel to the Somniel and run North to enter the Café Terrace. Then, use the door on the left to enter the Ring Chamber. Interact with the Central Pedestal and select the option Inherit Skills.

FE Engage Use SP To Inherit Skills

This will pull up a list of all of your Units. Selecting a Unit will then show you a list of Inheritable Skills from a certain Emblem (use L or R to cycle through your Units or the left thumbstick to view other Emblems). The list will be arranged by the Inheritable Skills that require a lower Bond Level and will increase as you scroll down. If you see a Skill you’d like to Inherit, you can use your Units SP to Inherit it. Keep in mind — some Inherited Skills on the list will say, “This effect will not stack if equipped while synced with Emblem Ike.” These Skills should only be Inherited if you plan to use a different Emblem Ring on that Unit.

Equip The Inherited Skill

FE Engage Manage Skills

Now that you’ve Inherited a Skill, back out of the Central Pedestal menu and open the Somniel Menu with the + button. Select Inventory, then the Unit with the newly Inherited Skill, and finally, Manage Skills.

FE Engage Equipping An Inherited Skill

Select one of the Inherited Skill slots that you would like to equip the Skill in, then select the Inherited Skill. Don’t forget to do this last step, as Inheriting a Skill is only one part of the process. You have to equip the Skill before it can give your Units any benefit. Also, be aware that you can only have a limited number of active Inherited Skills, so choose wisely.
