Players can find themselves forever going the distance when it comes to traveling in Sons Of The Forest. Needless to say, it’s hard enough to embark on a lengthy mission — let alone through cannibal-infested woodlands in the middle of the night.
The Rope Gun can provide players with the ability to hitch themselves to pre-built zip lines scattered throughout certain caves, while also granting players the ability to create their very own deployable zip lines on the fly. This piece of equipment is not only an invaluable asset to any player’s inventory, but it’s a requirement to explore certain caves and retrieve items like the shovel.
Where To Find The Rope-Gun
The Rope Gun can be found deep in one of the caves that are scattered throughout the map, This cave in question can be found on the west side of the map (featured in the image above). It’s extremely important to note that this cave is one of the most difficult caves to make your way through in one peace due to the quantity and types of enemies that await you.
We can’t stress enough how infested this cave is; it’s certain to be a challenge for even the most experienced players. Stock up on armor, weapons, and consumables, and be sure to get plenty of rest before making any attempt to explore this cave.
Once you reach the designated location and cave that contains both the Rope-Gun and Rebreather, make sure to pitch a tarp tent in the vicinity of the cave entrance. Doing so allows the player the save their progress and set a respawn point that’s close enough to the cave to have another attempt in case they fail the first time. Once you have entered the cave using the entrance, proceed to navigate your way till you reach what appears to be a dead end.
Once you reach what appears to be a dead end, look to your right and look for a giant mutant worm that’s trapped within the cave walls. To proceed past this point, the player must eliminate the mutated worm from the void in the wall of the cave. This can be easily done by crafting a time bomb from your inventory or using hand grenades. Once you have successfully destroyed the mutated worm, the passage will be cleared and free for the player to proceed.
After passing through the once-covered tunnel, you should find a printed email on A4 paper with the words “More Lighting” printed on it, along with a corpse. Remain to the left to find this entrance as highlighted in the image above.
Proceed to climb the small ramp after passing through the tunnel filled with suspended corpses. When you reach the flat spot at the top, turn around and walk past the small pile of stalagmites on your right.
Once you reach the end of this tunnel, it may take a while due to the cannibals and distance. You will find the Rope-Gun at the end in a box on the floor. Simply collect the Rope-Gun to add it to your inventory.
The Re-Breather can be found in the same cave as the Rope Gun.
