The crossbow is just one of the many powerful range-based weapons that can be discovered throughout the player’s journeys of the treacherous place they call “The Forest”. Even though melee weapons are the go-to option for the majority of players, a range-based weapon is one of the most efficient and safest ways to eliminate most enemies from a distance.
The Sons Of The Forest features several caves and hidden stashes of specific items and weapons that can be found throughout the player’s journey. The crossbow is just of the many items that are scattered throughout the cannibal-infested forest and are invaluable due to its power and range. This will require some traveling depending on where you’re departing from on the map.
Required & Suggested Items
To successfully acquire the crossbow, you must of first previously collected the shovel and maintenance keycard. The shovel is needed to get the maintenance keycard. The rest of the items are suggested items but are sure to aid you in your journey and ensure your progress is saved.

Once you have successfully gathered all the needed tools and requirements for the task ahead, proceed to make your way to the cave in which the crossbow can be found.
Where To Find The Crossbow
This crossbow is located in the hidden caves. Even though this cave may not be highlighted on the map, it can still be found located on the northwest side of the map. Once you arrive at the correct location you will see an abandoned golf cart a short distance in front of the entrance of the cave. As with most of the hidden caves, we highly suggest that the player pitches a tent before making any attempt of collecting the crossbow. This ensures that all your progress is saved and saves you from potentially traveling the same journey twice.
Once you have entered the cave entrance, we suggest that you equip some form of lighting to see easier whilst navigating through the tunnels of the cave. Proceed forwards and down the path until you reach a steel bunker hatch on the floor. To open this hatch simply approach it and wait for the command prompt to interact with the hatch to open it.
Once opened you will find a ladder you must climb down to the lower level of the cave. This will bring the player to a bunker with multiple rooms. A door is located on the right as soon as you enter this room which requires the maintenance keycard to open. Proceed to open the door and advance to the next room.
Once you have successfully unlocked the security door with the maintenance keycard, proceed to go forwards until you enter the second room. This is the room where the corpse containing the crossbow is found. The corpse is located in between shelves. Simply approach the crossbow and collect it to add it to your inventory. It’s worth noting that imminently behind the corpse where the crossbow is found the player can find crossbow bolts. These are the arrows that can be fired using your newly acquired crossbow.
