One of the most unique Materia’s in the original Final Fantasy 7 is Enemy Skill. Fortunately, this item also appears in Rebirth and is available early on. If you’ve not got it yet, let me show you how to get the Enemy Skill Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
You can’t buy Enemy Skill Materia from any Vendor and must earn it in the Combat Simulator instead. Thankfully, the Simulator quest you’re after is unlocked by default. Once you’ve completed “Biological Intel: Know Thine Enemy,” you’ll earn the Enemy Skill Materia.
I’ll be diving into very minor spoilers for the early game here, so feel free to skip to the next section. You’ll unlock the Combat Simulator as part of the natural story progression. More specifically, you’ll gain access to the Combat Simulator after escaping the Shinra Soldiers in Kalm. Once you find the Swamp, you’ll be redirected to a Chocobo Ranch. When you’ve progressed the story here, you’ll be introduced to Chadley, who will explain several open-world objectives and open the Simulator.
The Combat Simulator is excellent for battle practice, especially with characters you’re unfamiliar with. There are also rewards up for grabs, like basic Materia and even Summons. I recommend familiarising yourself with Chadley’s wares as he showers you with rewards for completing his tasks.
Final Fantasy isn’t the type of game where you need to concern yourself with metas or tier lists. Enemy Skill Materia allows players to earn new skills to play with, and that’s a win in my book, no matter how good they are.
You’ll likely have a spare Materia slot in the early game, and Enemy Skill is a great way to fill it. If you’re looking for even more Materia, check out our guide on where to get AP Up.
