How to get Alolan form Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk

The Indigo Disk DLC gives Trainers a great reason to fire up Pokemon Scarlet and Violet once again. One of the early quests tasks players with catching Alolan Pokemon. If you’re struggling, let me show you how to get Alolan forms in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk.

Where to find Alolan Pokemon in The Indigo Disk

One of your earliest tasks in the Indigo Disk asks players to “return when you’ve found an Alolan form Pokemon.” Fortunately, there are a few dotted around the Coastal Biome.

I found Alolan Muk, Alolan Grimer, and Alolan Exeggutor around the map location above. This area is a short walk from the professor who gives you the quest. Tracking these Pokemon down is easy; the hard part is catching them.

As you’ve already beaten the campaign and the first half of the DLC, you could easily have a party of Level 100 Pokemon. Even without a type advantage, you’ll likely crush any wild Pokemon in the area in a single blow. To get around this problem, I recommend teaching one of your Pokemon False Swipes. This Normal attack is unique as it will never KO the target. Instead, you’ll leave them at 1HP, making them much easier to catch. I taught False Swipes to my Rillaboom, but any Pokemon with plenty of HP will work.

Should I catch Alolan Exeggutor or Alolan Grimer/Muk?

If you have the choice, I recommend going for Alolan Exeggutor and using False Swipes to deplete its HP. In this area, the Alolan Grimer and Alolan Muk know an ability called Memento, which drains their own HP. This move is annoying as you’ll likely accidentally make your target faint when you’re trying to catch them.

There’s plenty to see and do in the Indigo Disk DLC, but if you’re wondering how BP works, check out our guide for a crash course.
