As any hardcore zombie survivalist knows, weapons and firearms are the only saviors when confronted with a forest full of mutated, flesh-hungry cannibals. All the melee weapons such as the axe, katana, and machete deal plenty of damage, but firearms are the best option when looking to put your enemy down and ensure they stay down… regardless of how big they are.
There is a total of two firearms that you will find throughout your travels and excursions when playing Sons Of The Forest. These come in the form of a 9mm handgun and a shotgun. All these are not available by default and do require some work to acquire, we have you covered with just exactly where to find the pistol, and how to get it.
Where To Find The Pistol
The pistol is a perfect sidearm and essential for any player who intends to do some in-depth cave exploring or stay alive longer than a few days. The pistol can be found hidden in a total of two locations throughout the map. Location one is a shark-infested beach that is truly terrifying. The second location takes more requirements such as the keycard to gain access to the area where the pistol is found.
Location One
The first location where the 9mm pistol can be found is on a destroyed raft that floats a short distance out from a beach. Although the distance to and from the raft is relatively short, the sea is home to giant sharks making it a truly stressful experience as it is certain to attack anything that enters the water.
We highly recommend having the wetsuit for this, even though it is not essential it can speed up the time it takes the player to swim from the beach to the raft. This also means you stand a greater chance of getting there in one piece. This shark will attack you regardless of your difficulty setting.
The pistol can be found in the middle of the raft along with several other consumable items. As mentioned above we highly recommend for the player shoot the shark from the raft as soon as they collect the pistol. This is the safest and most efficient way to eliminate the shark and get back to shore alive.
Location Two
The second location is less risky and terrifying. With that being said, it does require certain items such as Keycards to be able to gain access to the location that not only contains the pistol, but several other priceless tools that are waiting to add to the player’s forever-growing arsenal.
The pistol is in the depths of one of the many caves that are found throughout the forest. Even though you can access the cave like any other cave in the game, the rest of the journey will require the VIP keycard. Please note that if you do not have this already in your inventory then you will not be able to gain access to the pistol or the rest of the cave.
Simply make your way through the cave until you find yourself at the staircase that parts downstairs to the left. At the bottom of these steps is where the door that requires the keycard resides. Proceed to press the interact button when prompted to open the locked door with the VIP keycard. The pistol can be located on the worker’s corpse that’s leaning against the wall.
The Katana, Putter, and Golden Mask can be found in location two.
