How to fix unable to use Treasure Map in Ark Survival Ascended Scorching Earth

0

The first expansion pack for Ark Survival Ascended is Bob’s Tall Tales, a DLC that adds many wild west-themed goodies to the game such as treasure maps and railroads. However, some paying players still can’t access the features.

Why can’t you play with Bob’s Tall Tales features in ASA Scorched Earth?

When playing Scorched Earth with the Bob’s Tall Tales DLC, players can experience great new features, such as being able to construct your own wild west saloon or train. New creatures are also able to be tamed, which are great for hauling your own configurable wagon. This would be quite the culture shock for your character should you import them over.

However, upon attempting to use such features, such as trying to read a Treasure Map, a pop-up may appear, warning you that you need to purchase the Bob’s Tall Tales DLC in order to use the item.

In this case, make sure you definitely have the Bob’s Tall Tales DLC bought and installed. If neither of those conditions are met, you won’t be able to actually utilise the features, although you may come into contact with them.

If you do, then it’s a bug you need to try and fix. This is hardly surprising given Studio Wildcard’s track record.

Hopefully, this should soon be patched, although I won’t hold my breath. Let’s try to get it fixed so you can jump in to your rootin’-tootin’ adventure with Bob.

Fixes for not being able to use Bob’s Tall Tales features in ASA Scorched Earth

Many players have been reporting this problem, and only a few have been able to fix it. Unfortunately, there is not a lot a player can do until a patch rolls around, so I hope these tricks work for you.

Firstly, verify the game’s files and restart your game. Fully close Ark Survival Ascended. If you’re playing on console, then all you can do is relaunch the game and hope the problem is solved. If you’re playing on Steam, then you should verify the game’s files, just to make sure.

Right-click on the game in your library, go into “Properties…” and then click “Installed Files. At the bottom, click on “Verify integrity of game files.” This won’t take long. When it’s done, launch the game again.

If you still can’t access the features, then the only other solution is to delete the game and reinstall it. This is hardly desirable, so it may be worthwhile to wait for a patch to roll around.

Until this gets officially fixed, I’ve got my fingers crossed that this problem doesn’t plague too many of you. How are you going to defeat the Manticore if you have to keep deleting your saves?
