Apex Legends is going strong with Season 14, but it’s also a time where some of the game’s problems can rear their heads. PC players especially have trouble around update time, as the ‘patching game’ Apex error pops up almost every time. The problems continue for many players who are searching far and wide for a fix to the infinite loading screen they’re greeted with when booting up the game.

We’ll run through what might be causing this bug, and the ways you can fix it.

Apex Legend infinite loading screen fix

There are two possibilities as to why you get stuck on the loading screen. Either your game’s files are corrupted, which can sometimes happen with an incomplete update, or you’re not running the latest version of Apex Legends. Depending on which it is, the fix will be slightly different, but both are very simple.

Firstly, if you’re lacking the latest update, you can manually check for updates easily.

On consoles, press the Start/Options button while highlighting the game on the dashboard, then select the “Check for Updates” option.

On PC using Origin, right-click on the game and click “update”, and on Steam, right-click the game, go into “Update Settings” and make sure the game is set to “Automatically Update”. You can even set Apex Legends as a priority game that Steam should always update before any other.

If this doesn’t fix the problem then your files may need repairing. On console, you’ll unfortunately need to uninstall and reinstall the game.

On Steam, you can do this by right-clicking on Apex Legends, going to “Properties”, “Local Files”, and then clicking on “Verify integrity of the game files”.

On Origin click on the gear icon when selecting the game from your library and click the “Repair” button.
