When trying to get better at Counter-Strike 2, watching your Match Demos back is very helpful. However, there is an ongoing error that says, “Match Demo has expired and is no longer available for download.”

If you’re looking for a fix to this Match Demo error in CS2, you’ve come to the right place. Here is everything we know about the Match Demo error in CS2 and how to potentially fix it.

Is Match Demo viewing temporarily disabled in CS2?

The Match Demo error only occurs when you go to watch your matches in Counter-Strike 2. Currently, Match Demos are disabled in CS2 which means there isn’t a way to watch a playback of your matches.

On September 28, 2023, Valve disabled Match Demos. Their explanation was to boost server capacity. While servers and matchmaking are the priority, it’s a major bummer that Match Demos needed to be temporarily cut to have things run properly, especially since CS2 is an esport where coaches, players, and teams need to study their game footage.

To specify, you can’t watch Match Demos online or offline and you can’t download Match Demos either. The best thing you can do for now is record your own game footage and watch that back.

When will Match Demos become available in CS2?

It is unclear when Valve will turn on Match Demos in CS2. Since they are such a pivotal part of the game for so many people, I’m guessing the wait for Match Demos won’t be too much longer. I’d say the latest we’d have to wait for Match Demos in CS2 is December, but I could be wrong.

Considering Match Demos were disabled in late September, you’d think they’d be back after a month. We may have to wait until the end of November, December, or even longer. Valve knows how important Match Demos are, so when they are confident Match Demos won’t take too many resources from server strength, they will turn them back on.
