Just like any farming simulator, you can go fishing in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. Although you’ll start off the game with certain tools like the Watering Can and Hoe, you’ll need to purchase a Fishing Rod before you can attempt to catch any fish. Where you can buy this fishing rod is through Van, the travelling merchant who comes to town twice a season.

In this Story of Seasons game, each season will have 10 days, and Van will come to town on the 3rd and 8th day of every season. You can check which day of the season it is by reading the calendar in your home. Once he opens shop, head to the Plaza and talk to Van. One of the first things on his list of items is a Fishing Rod worth 500 Gold. Purchase it, and it will automatically go into one of your tool slots.

Now you can go fishing in any area with water, which there are basically four of. Either fish at the ocean, the river, Turtle Pond, or the sacred spring in the Forest. But how do you catch a fish in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life? Just walk up to an area you want to fish, hold your Fishing Rod, and press ‘E’ on your keyboard to use it.

Once your line casts out, catching fish is the easy part. If you see a fish, don’t reel it in yet, even when the bobber dips under water. Wait until you see an exclamation mark appear, meaning you got a bite. Now, press the same ‘E’ key again to reel it in. There isn’t much skill to it, all it takes is pressing the button at the right moment. You can now cook your fish in a recipe, or sell them to Van for a good price.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is available on Steam.
