As with any RPG, grinding is essential in Pokémon to make sure you aren’t left behind. As you proceed through the game, there will be points where you need to grind out levels or risk getting swept away. A useful item to help with grinding is the Lucky Egg. And here’s how to get the Lucky Egg in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Note: We’ll have a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet guides and features hub coming soon, so stay tuned.

How to find the Lucky Egg in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

The Lucky Egg is a powerful item that was first introduced back in Johto. When held by a Pokémon, that Pokémon receives 50% more experience than usual. This works in unison with the experience share mechanic, making it a great way to grind out lower-level Pokémon without risking them fainting.

Not only does utilizing a Lucky Egg make grinding faster, but it also makes it easier to upkeep friendship. When a Pokémon faints it loses friendship, and some Pokémon like Pichu require friendship to evolve. By using a Lucky Egg in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet you can quickly level up Pokémon without losing any friendship and having to wait longer for it to evolve.

To obtain a Lucky Egg all you have to do is beat five gyms and then enter the sixth gym. As you enter, Jacq will talk to you about how the Treasure Hunt is going. After a quick chat, he’ll hand you a Lucky Egg and send you on your way.

The order in which you take on the gyms has no impact on when you get the Lucky Egg. Jacq will appear when you enter your sixth gym after you defeat five. The sixth gym you enter could be the Cortondo Gym, Glaseado Gym, or any of the eight gyms located in Paldea. Assuming you go in the intended order, though, the sixth gym will be Montenevera, the Ghost-type gym.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet can be purchased on the Nintendo Store.
