Players have to farm Bitterblack Isle Weapons to defeat some monsters in Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. Well, here’s a guide to help you with it.

Quick Links

Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen introduces a huge and extremely tough challenge for players in the Bitterblack Isle Dungeon. The monsters here will laugh off most of the weapons you pick up during the main story, so the best way to make progress is to get hold of some of the Cursed items and purify them into powerful equipment.

Get Ready To Reset

Dragons Dogma Weapon Rarefy

Before you begin farming, something important to consider is that you will mostly not get what you are looking for from any chest. Most Bitterblack Weapons are rare, some with as low as 5-15% spawn rates, and so when you open a chest and don’t get one, you will need to find ways to reset and try again. The easiest method is to save before each chest, then use the Godsbane item to kill yourself, and then reload. If you don’t have the Godsbane yet, the next easy way is to hurl yourself off a ledge into a bottomless pit. The final method is to Quit and go to the Main Menu (without saving!), and reload.

Spend Rift Crystals

Dragons Dogma Weapon Purify

You will need a lot of Rift Crystals to purify the items you find. Level 1 Armor and Weapons cost 4-5,000 RC. Level 2 is twice that at 8-11,000, and the same again at Level 3, with Weapons costing 25,000 RC to Purify. The easiest way to get RC is from Pawn Rental; otherwise, you’ll need to farm it by defeating enemies and opening chests through the Isle.

Now you’re ready, so let’s look at each of the farmable chest locations. Every weapon listed below is farmable Pre-Daimon, which means the chest is valid any time until you beat the final boss of Bitterblack Isle for the first time. After this, many chests spawn change.

Midnight Helix

There is a Bitterblack Weapon Lv.1 here in a chest across the bridge. It can be accessed from behind the main room that crosses the befouled river.

The Pilgrim’s Gauntlet

There are two Bitterblack Weapon Lv.1 available here. One is found quite easily, while the other will require some careful jumping. The chest in the above image can only be reached by double-jumping from the ledge above the main area with a Dagger Class or Levitating with a Staff class. The other chest can be reached by simply running past all the enemies on the ground floor and then climbing up the broken stones in the alcove.

The Vault Of Defiled Truth

There are two Bitterblack Weapon Lv.1 spawns here. Both of these are rare spawns, and we would not suggest spending too long resetting these if you do not find them quickly, as there are much more easily farmable spawns.

Fortress of Remembrance

Similarly, there are two Rare Bitterblack Weapon Lv.1 spawns in chests here, and as above, we would also suggest moving on if you do not find them quickly, as it can take many resets otherwise.

The Black Abbey

The Black Abbey is an arena-style location in which different enemies spawn each time you leave and re-enter. The chests will spawn the same loot regardless and do not respawn when enemies do. There is a Bitterblack Weapon Lv.2 here in the alcove opposite the entrance.

The Forgotten Hall

This location has a Bitterblack Weapon Lv.2; it’s in a small area reachable by climbing the broken stones before the stairs leading to the Bloodless Stockade. There are two chests here, but you’ll have to focus on the left one.

The Bloodless Stockade

There is a Bitterblack Weapon Lv.2 in the flooded area behind the broken sewer grate. Be careful, as you can lose your lantern light from drenching, and there are many Leapworms.

Sparyard Of Scant Mercy

There are two Bitterblack Weapon Lv.2 chests here in the alcove opposite the entrance. You can run around the outside of the map to reach these without aggroing the Living Armor.

The Fallen City

There is a Bitterblack Weapon Lv.2 in a chest between two buildings at the bottom of the steps leading down from the entrance.
