Where To Find Greavard

Greavard might be a Ghost-Type Pokemon, but it doesn’t shy away from being spotted often in the Glaseado Mountain region. This Pokemon is abundant in snowy areas but likes to hide in the snow. Although it hides, the candle on top of its head is always sticking out of the ground. Whenever you see this, you can immediately approach it, and you will have found a Greavard. You can use the map above as a reference for every area you can find the Pokemon.

The easiest location to find a Greavard is just outside the city of Montenevera. The Greavard in this area will be around Level 33 to Level 36, so they won’t be too hard to capture. Here’s how you can quickly and efficiently pick up a Greavard for your team.

  • First, fly to the Montenevera Pokemon Center.
  • When you arrive, immediately head north on the map towards the exit. You will be taking the slope down Glaseado Mountain.
  • On these slopes, you will most likely spot quite a few candles sticking out of the ground. You can easily mistake these for sparkling spots, but you will know once you approach it and Greavard sticks its head out.
  • You can approach the candle directly and start the battle with Greavard.
  • Since the Greavard will be higher in level, you can catch it with a Great Ball or a Dusk Ball, which is used to catch Pokemon at night.

Once you have caught your Greavard, you can now work towards evolving it into Houndstone.

How To Evolve Greavard Into Houndstone

Greavard right before evolving into Houndstone in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Despite evolving in a way that isn’t common, Greavard can be evolved into Houndstone in a quite simple way. The only things you will have to worry about in Greavard’s evolution process are its level and the time of day.

The first thing you will need to do is make sure your Greavard is Level 30 or above. If you happen to catch a Greavard in the location we mentioned above, it will already have this box checked. Your Greavard will most likely already be around Level 33 to 36. If not, you can build up its experience through frequent battles, giving it a Lucky Egg to hold, or by using Experience Candies.

When your Greavard has reached this level, you will now need to level it up during nighttime. If it is currently daytime, it takes around 30 minutes for a day to pass in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. You can change the time on your Switch system through settings if you don’t want to wait. When it has reached nighttime in the game, put your Greavard into a few battles or give it some Experience Candies until it gets to its next level. Then, your Greavard will successfully evolve into Houndstone.
