How To Counter Mega Knight

0

Mega Knight is one of the deadliest troops in Clash Royale who can always cause you trouble if you don’t know how to counter him. Here we will suggest you a number of different combos that could help you get rid of Mega Knight effectively.

As an attacking unit with so much health, Mega Knight has three main ways to deal damage to your troops. The very first method is the unit’s spawn. When you spawn a Mega Knight into a position, it jumps onto the battlefield, dealing damage to anyone at his spawn point and knocking them back a little bit.

The second way of attack is Mega Knight’s power jump. If Mega Knight detects an enemy or a tower at the proper distance, he gets his jump charged and then performs a jump onto the target, which deals more damage than his simple attacks.

The third and final way that you can get hit by a Mega Knight is his simple attacking move, which could one-shot vulnerable low-cost units

Now that we know how a Mega Knight attacks, let’s get over his weaknesses. Similar to most units, Mega Knight can be easily distracted by spawning units in the other directions, no matter how big or small that unit is. Also, he is completely vulnerable to aerial attacks, which makes it one of the best ways to take Mega Knight down without even getting a hit.

Another weakness in Mega Knight’s attack is the fact that you can cancel his jump when he is charging himself to perform. While spawning a unit can distract him from the jump, some other cards like The Log will also cancel his jump if hits him just before the jump.

Last but not least, Mega Knight is completely vulnerable to attack from behind. This means if you distract him in the front, you can deal heavy damage to him from the back side even with pretty vulnerable units such as Skeletons.

Now, with full knowledge of Mega Knight’s moves and weaknesses, let’s have a look at the combos that can easily take him out of the battlefield. We have divided these combos into two different sections when Mega Knight is alone, and when he is accompanied by another troop.

Just before we get into the combos, keep in mind that Mega Knight requires 7 Elixirs to be spawned, so countering him with every combo that costs beneath 7 will put you in an advantage, though it isn’t always the most effective way.

Clash Royale Combos For Countering Mega Knight When He Is Alone

  • Mini PEKKA/Valkyrie + Bats (Elixir Cost: 6)
    • Allow Mega Knight to enter your arena a little bit and then spawn the bats. Before Mega Knight attempts to jump onto your tower, spawn Mini PEKKA/Valkyrie in front of him. Make sure that Mega Knight doesn’t jump unto Mini PEKKA/Valkyrie as it will take a lot of damage from your unit.
  • Mini PEKKA/Valkyrie + Skeleton Army (Elixir Cost: 7)
    • This time, you should first spawn Valkyrie/Mini PEKKA after Mega Knight enters your arena, but make sure to spawn it a little bit to the left or right, when Mega Knight turns to hit your unit, spawn Skeleton army just behind him. If you manage to spawn the Skeleton Army just in time, your Valkyrie/Mini PEKKA could survive the battle as well.
  • Mini PEKKA/Valkyrie + Minions (Elixir Cost: 7)
    • The strategy of doing this is the same as the first combo.
  • PEKKA (Elixir Cost: 7)
    • PEKKA is the only unit in Clash Royale that can win a one-on-one battle against Mega Knight with no help. However, you should make sure that Mega Knight doesn’t jump onto your PEKKA.
  • Ice Golem + Bats (Elixir Cost: 4)
    • While this is the most cost-effective way to get rid of Mega Knight, it requires great skill and timing. If you fail to do it right, your tower will be damaged heavily by Mega Knight. In this combo, you should let Mega Knight get past the bridge and once he enters your arena, you should place Ice Golem a few tiles away from the middle of your arena towards the opposite side of Mega Knight’s entrance. The most accurate placement is one or two tiles. When Mega Knight attempts to jump onto Ice Golem, spawn batts in the middle. Mega Knight will fail to catch your Ice Golem and will start to follow the golem to the opponent’s arena. but your towers and bats will finish him before gets too far. If you misplace Ice Golem, Mega Knight either won’t detect the golem or will jump onto it, which takes off a lot of the golem’s health.
  • Minion Horde + Ice Spirit (Elixir Cost: 6)
    • Let Mega Knight enter your arena and then spawn the Minion Horde, before he attempts to jump, spawn Ice Spirit, a little bit away from him towards the middle. This will freeze Mega Knight, which will give your Minion Horde enough time to kill him when he comes back to life.
  • Inferno Tower + Bomber (Elixir Cost: 7)
    • If you manage to avoid Mega Knight from jumping onto Inferno Tower by any means, he will be killed thanks to the burning laser. However, if he jumps onto the Inferno Tower, he will destroy it, and then will have enough time to jump onto your crown tower too. You should allow Mega Knight to enter the Inferno Tower’s AOE, and then spawn Bomber somewhere inside the Inferno Tower’s AOE, where it can be spotted by Mega Knight, but his jump onto the Bomber couldn’t deal damage to the Inferno Tower. This way, Bomber will be able to hit him with at least one bomb while Inferno Tower will do the rest.
  • Miner + Skeleton Army (Elixir Cost: 6)
    • While Miner can’t deal too much damage, he is a tough unit against Mega Knight’s attacks. You can use him as a distraction in front of Mega Knight and then spawn the Skeleton Army from behind to finish him.
  • Cannon Cart (Elixir Cost: 5)
    • If you position Cannon Cart well enough in the middle of your arena so that Mega Knight gets hit by both crown tower and king tower after attacking Cannon Cart, he will be destroyed and Cannon Cart will survive.
  • Goblin Cage + Bomber (Elixir: 6)
    • Let Mega Knight starts his attack on Goblin cage and then spawn Bomber to hit him. This combo in addition to the help of the crown tower will destroy Mega Knight. Keep in mind that on some occasions Goblin Cage itself is also enough for killing Mega Knight, but this would be a risky move.

Clash Royale Combos For Countering Mega Knight When He Is Accompanied

  • Attacker: Mega Knight + Minions/Minion Horde/Bats
  • Counters:
    • MiniPEKKA/Valkyrie + Baby Dragon + Skeleton Army (Elixir Cost: 11)
    • MiniPEKKA/Valkyrie + Fireball + Skeleton Army (Elixir Cost: 11)
    • MiniPEKKA/Valkyrie + Fireball + Bats (Elixir Cost: 10)
      • You should first kill minions or bats by Fireball or Baby Dragon, and before Mega Knight attempts to jump you should spawn Valkyrie as a front distraction, and then you can kill him by either Bats or Skeleton Army.
  • Attacker: Mega Knight + Wizard/Witch
  • Counters:
    • Mini PEKKA/Valkyrie + Barbarian Barrell + Bats (Elixir Cost: 8)
      • This one requires perfect timing. You should let both attacker units get on the bridge. Wizard/Witch is usually behind Mega Knight as a ranged support unit. Once WizardWitch gets on the bridge, spawn your Barbarian Barrel in a way that the Barbarian stands up just behind the Wizard/Witch. On the other hand, before Barbarian comes out of the barrel, spawn Valkyrie in front of Mega Knight. Keep in mind that your Barbarian should get any hits by the enemy tower, which means you should spawn him right on the bridge. You can then spawn your Bats above Mega Knight. Barbarian kills Wizard/Witch while others will finish Mega Knight.
    • Mini PEKKA/Valkyrie + Barbarian Barrell + Skeleton Army (Elixir Cost: 9)
      • The tactic is the same as above, but instead of Bats in the end, you should spawn Skeleton Army behind Mega Knight. This actually better than the previous combo as a few Skeletons will go to attack Wizard based on your spawn placement of Skeleton Army, just to make sure Barbarian will be successful.
  • Attacker: Mega Knight + Hog Rider + The Log
  • Counter:
    • Mini PEKKA/Valkyrie + Tesla Tower + Ice Spirit + Bats (Elixir Cost: 11)
      • This is a tricky way to attack your crown tower by turning Mega Knight into prey. The attacker usually allows Mega Knight to enter your arena and gets the attention of all your troops. Once done, the attacker deploys Hog Rider on the bridge, which is followed by The Log to clear the way for the rider and buy some time for Mega Knight as well. In order to counter this, you cannot kill Hog Rider or Mega Knight with Skeleton Army, as The Log will completely destroy it. So, you should use the combination of Mini PEKKA/Valkyrie plus Bats to take down Mega Knight, while Tesla Tower distracts Hog Rider and Ice Spirit freezes him a little bit. Keep in mind that crown tower can’t help killing Hog Rider as it has already locked onto Mega Knight.

We hope you face fewer difficulties to counter Mega Knight with the suggestions above. However, keep in mind that these are only some of the most effective ways to counter Mega Knight. There are surely some other ways that might fit into your deck better than our suggestions. So, never stop discovering the game on your own!
